Volkl Confession Skis
The 2018 Volkl Confession is a carryover this year with some graphic changes. It's still the same robust, burly, stiff powder ski that you've come to know and love. For years, powder skis have become more and more rockered and less and less stiff. The idea was that the float and smear feelings were appealing to the public. Experts and pros balked. Enter the Volkl Confession-an ideal hard charging powder ski because of its slight camber underfoot, titanium bands and carbon stringers, and overall shape. When experts and pros were getting into more technical terrain, full rocker skis would skid out via the tails, leading to spectacular crashes and hairy situations. By adding slight camber underfoot, the Volkl Confession is able to hold that tail firmly into the slope, especially the steeper it gets. The Confession gets its stiffness from a full wood core and the implementation of titanium and carbon inlays. The titanium bands run throughout the central portion of the ski and makes for a stable ride. Carbon stringers are inlayed into the wood core to increase the longitudinal stiffness. Shape-wise, at 117mm underfoot, the Confession isn't as wide as some other powder specific skis, but the straightness of the ski keeps it afloat in pretty much any snow conditions. With a stated side cut radius of 26.5 meters, the Volkl Confession is built for some in-line skiing. While certainly not a carver, given the proper snow conditions, the Confession can definitely hold an edge. For big and strong skiers looking to ski radical lines, the 2018 Volkl Confession is a must-have.
