Stowe, VT-January 20, 2014-
Katrine and David Wolfgang were honored last week by the New England Winter Sport Representatives for the outstanding growth and innovation of their business in Stowe, VT. Under the Mazel Tec Inc. umbrella, the Wolfgangs operate Pinnacle Ski and Sports, Inner Bootworks, and Skiessentials.com. With their brick and mortar businesses, the Wolfgangs have been supplying the local community with great ski equipment and custom fit ski boots for years, SkiEssentials.com offers the same great inventory and service to skiers all over the world.
The last time the Best of New England Ski Shop Award was given to a Northern Vermont shop, was back in 1999. This year, the Wolfgangs earned the award due to their continued growth as a ski shop by using an innovative business model that includes multiple sales channels.
Launched out of the back of a truck in 1985, Pinnacle Ski and Sports started as a mobile tuning service under the name Bedside Tuners. Many Stowe properties will likely remember the ubiquitous blueberry muffins cheerfully perched on the tips of freshly tuned skis which was the hallmark of the overnight ski tuning and delivery service. Outgrowing the orginial business plan, Bedside Tuners became Pinnacle Ski and Sports when it expanded into a new property on Mountain Road. Now, the Mazel Tec. umbrella includes an 11,000 square foot warehouse in addition to their flagship retail space. Their flagship store is home to both Pinnacle Ski and Sports, and the internationally recognized and award winning boot shop Inner Bootworks. From one man and a truck the Wolfgangs now employ 43 during peak season.
The Wolfgangs are quick to credit their staff and the Stowe ski community for their success. "We have six employees who have been with us since the beginning, and have been fortunate to attract people who are passionate about winter sports." Past and current Pinnacle employees have included Sporting Shop Owners, US Snowboarding Team Coach, Alpine Race Coaches, business professionals and long time members of the Stowe community.
Pinnacle Ski and Sports works closely with Stowe Area Association and area businesses, actively sharing their passion for alpine skiing through support of area events and charities.
