Matchstick Productions Fade to Black Premier Recap // Ski Industry News
On Friday, November 20, 2015 SkiEssentials.com, Pinnacle Ski and Sports, and Inner Bootworks played host to Matchstick Productions latest film, “Fade to Winter”. We were absolutely thrilled by the turnout and are looking forward to hosting similar events in weeks, months, and years to come! We thought we’d put together a recap of the evening as a way to say thanks to the venue, our sponsors, partners, and of course, all of you for attending!
The event took place at the famous Rusty Nail here in Stowe, VT. The “Nail”, as it’s affectionately referred to by Stowe locals, is famous for its live music, epic parties, and vast history here in our small town. If you’ve never been, Rusty Nail is a big, open venue featuring a stage, dance floor, open bar area, and upstairs balcony; it’s the perfect spot for a ski movie premiere.
In addition to the Matchstick Productions premiere we were also treated to the sounds of The Shady Trees, a talented local band. The entire event was a fundraiser for High Fives Foundation, with 100% of proceeds and raffle ticket sales being donated to the organization.
The event started with an hour and a half “meet and greet” time. Our staff welcoming guests at the door had an absolute blast seeing all the friendly faces coming in for the event. We were extremely humbled by the amount of people who attended the event and were honored to be able to bring together such an awesome community. During the meet and greet hour our guests enjoyed wood fired pizza from local restaurant Piecasso Pizzeria and Lounge. Wood fired Piecasso pizza, it turns out, is extremely tasty! (Not that we expected anything less from one of our favorite local restaurants).
After everyone had their fill of pizza and the steady stream of people coming in the front door started to mellow out Mike Aidala from SkiEssentials.com and Roy Tuscany from High Fives Foundation took the stage to greet everyone in attendance, chat briefly about High Fives Foundation, and then promptly started “Fade to Winter” for the growingly anxious crowd.
The movie itself is beyond words, so we won’t even try. You need to see it for yourself. Between classically beautiful terrain and cinematography to small, local events with minimal snow, “Fade to Winter” is a celebration of all things skiing and is a much watch for any enthusiast.
As the movie ended to tremendous applause, Mike Aidala and Jeff Neagle (also from SkiEssentials.com) took the stage to draw the night’s winning raffle tickets. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of sponsors for the event! Head Skis, Under Armor, Skida, Stowe Mountain Resort, Stowe Area Association, The Alchemist, Piecasso, and of course Pinnacle Ski and Sports all donated incredible prizes, the highlights being three Stowe lift ticket vouchers, a two night stay to the Golden Eagle Resort in Stowe, and three pairs of skis from Volkl and Head!
Each and every raffle winner was ecstatic and we were able to raise a grand total of $1,185 for High Fives Foundation! Shortly after giving away all our raffle prizes we were treated to the sounds of The Shady Trees! The Shady Trees are a well-known local Stowe band whose members are avid members of the local ski community. Their music was a perfect way to wind down an incredible evening.
We’d like to extend a very sincere thank you to everyone who attended the event. You all made it a night to remember and we are thrilled to be able to make a donation to High Fives Foundation that exceeds $1000. Another huge thank you to all of our partners and sponsors, especially Piecasso for the incredible pizza, Rusty Nail for the support and the incredible venue, The Shady Trees for a memorable performance, and of course, High Fives Foundation for being such an amazing organization and coming to share the evening with us!
We’ll see you next time!
