2017 Volkl Code UVO Red Skis

The Volkl Code UVO Red skis have become a favorite here at SkiEssentials.com thanks to their smooth performance that can be enjoyed by a wide range of ability levels from intermediate all the way up through aggressive expert skiers. Volkl's construction techniques allow them to build lightweight skis that still retain plenty of torsional stiffness and power for fast carving turns. The Code UVO Red is a perfect example of this. When you pick it up the light weight is very noticeable, especially if you're directly comparing it to a competitors system ski, and then when you have it on your feet it boasts impressive carving performance for a ski of this weight (and price!). It has a full wood core with steel laminates. Steel is a material that is often overshadowed by the popular titanal (titanium alloy) that's found in a lot of carving skis. What it does, however, is make a ski exceptionally smooth as steel has natural vibration dampening characteristics not as prevalent in other metals. This means when you're cruising down a groomed slope the little bumps and imperfections in the snow practically disappear as the ski helps absorb them. We also like the tip and tail rocker that this ski has and how easy it is to initiate a turn. It's one of those confidence inspiring skis that makes you feel like a rockstar, and oh yeah, did we mention it has an impressively low price?
