Jamie Bisbee
Jamie Bisbee is a lifelong skier who now works as a boot fitter under Benny Wax at Inner Bootworks right here in Stowe. He learned to ski at Mohawk Mountain in Connecticut. When asked about his favorite terrain, Jamie just answered “wherever it’s good,” a classic east coast skiing mentality. Sometimes you just have to take what mother nature provides, whether that’s fresh powder or a firm groomer. His current ski quiver includes a Nordica Enforcer 93, a Blizzard Cochise, and a Blizzard Bodacious that’s mounted as a telemark setup. Jamie frequents Stowe during the winter thanks to its close proximity to Inner Bootworks.
Yo Jamie!!
Grew up in NF night skiing at Big B & Mohawk too!! For the Volkl 90eights, would you recommend the 184cm over the 177s? I’m 6’0” on a good day & 185lbs. I tend to stick to the tree line on the remainder of the soft stuff & bumps, looking for a quick ski. Ok with getting squirrelly on long radius turns & high speed for the payoff of a slightly fatter ski & livelier in short turns.
Hello!
We’ll see if we can get Jamie to chime in, but we thought we’d share our opinion.
At your size it feels like the 184 cm is the right way to go, although what you said about being okay with the ski getting a little unstable suggests the 177 cm could work. What are the length(s) of your current ski(s)? I would expect the 177 cm to come to about your nose, while the 184 cm will be slightly taller than your. I think as long as you’re not planning to ski exceptionally fast the 177 cm could work for you, and will definitely feel livelier in short turns.
Let us know what you’re currently skiing on, that often helps us make a better recommendation for length.

The nordica navigator 90 in the 186 would be my pick over the Volkl. I feel the nordica is a bit quicker edge to edge given its turn radius and sidecut. Keep in mind the Indian can shoot any arrow
