Salomon QST 106 Skis with Bindings

The Salomon QST 106 is a playful and surfy all mountain ski perfect for the resort or the backcountry. These skis feature a lightweight construction perfect for maneuverability and playfulness in powder conditions, but they can handle much more than that. Built with a Poplar wood core, these skis feature smooth and responsive flex while Carbon and Flax fibers add stability and strength to the ski overall. The QST 106 also uses a Cork Damplifier to reduce vibrations, making the ski feel smooth at high speeds or in choppier snow. At 106 millimeters underfoot, there's no question that this ski is designed for soft powder, but it provides versatility to handle firmer snow conditions as well. Rocker in the tip and tail allow for great maneuverability and surfiness, and when paired with a 19-meter radius, you can really manipulate the type of turn shape you want to make on this ski. Freeride skiers will love the way this ski handles aggressive terrain with ease along with its notable on-trail performance as well. You have to find your way back to the lift at the end of every run after all, right? With that being said, because this ski doesn't feature the weight of a ski with metal laminates, it is often used as a backcountry touring ski. Pair it up with a binding like the Salomon shift, and you have yourself a perfect 50/50 ski for use at the resort and while touring in the backcountry.

When you buy a ski/binding package, will you mount the bindings?

Thanks.

Hi Steven,
Yes we will mount the skis as long as you provide the boot sole length. You would still have to take them to a ski shop to get the binding adjusted to your height, weight, and skier type,
Thanks,
SE

Hello,

I am stuck between the QST 106 and the Candide 3.0. I'm 6'1 and 170 lbs skiing all over the mountain but mostly on bumps, powder, and trees. Could you give me a recommendation on sizing and which ski would best fit my needs?

Thank you!
Question by: Ryan on Jan 17, 2022, 12:42 PM
Hi Ryan,

Hard to size you up if we don't know your weight and height. Both are powder surfers which can slash, pivot, smear and slash playful turns in powder and soft snow. The Candide is a little more more freerideish and playful, while the Solomon blurs the line between all-mountain and freeride and having a bit of stronger build and flex. If you are more resort oriented, go with the QST. if you see yourself skiing the resort but also hitting the sidecountry or BC, the Candide with a Shift binding on it would be ideal!

Hello SE,

I'm 5'6", 140lbs.
I usually ski west. I like to explore bowls, trees and bumps when the snow is good. Consider myself an advanced skier, do not ski very aggressively and like to ski in control.
I'm between 167cm and 174cm for QST 106, any advice?

Thank you!
Question by: JG on Jul 16, 2022, 3:59 AM
Considering your height, weight and aggressiveness I think the 167 should be plenty of ski especially if you prioritize your time in trees and bumps, although there is no metal in this ski, there is plenty of high tech material in this ski to keep you stable at speed even charging in the bowls.

Thanks,

NW
