Salomon Shift Pro 120 AT Mens Ski Boot

The Salomon Shift Pro 120 men's AT ski boots are a shining example of where the ski market is headed these days. For skiers who are looking to seek their own adventure and blaze their own trails, these boots will help you on your journey. For years, ski boots were all about transferring the most amount of energy as quickly and efficiently as possible to the edges of your skis. While that still remains the goal, for a while, it didn't quite add up in the world of touring boots. When companies really started to combine the GripWalk soles with the walk mode and the tech fittings, things really came into focus. Another step was getting into lighter plastics that had the feel more of a touring boot, but with the build and geometry of more alpine-oriented shoes. As a result, boot companies like Salomon ended up with boots like the Shift Pro 120 AT boot that excels in any and all conditions and terrain, as well as backcountry and alpine touring adventures. It's pretty impressive how they were able to turn quickly and end up with boots like this. Featuring a 100 mm forefoot width, just like the S/Pro line of boots, and a 120-flex rating, which is stiff enough to satisfy some of the burlier and more aggressive skiers of the world, the Shift Pro 120 loves to be put to the test, whether you're in the resort or the skin track.

What bindings will these boots work with?
Question by: Roz H on Jan 26, 2022, 7:38 AM
This boot will work with a Solomon Shift binding or Marker Duke PT. Both boot and binding are great 50/50 resort/touring set ups! Just need some skins and off you go!

I have head raptor 130 boot size 27,5 a couple a years. Boot is out of the box more narrow than my 102-104 mm wide feet. I took some bootfitting.

Hopefully that worked! The custom shell is awesome technology.

Hi. Seems that the main part of my question got lost. I have head raptor flex 130 boot size 27,5 a couple a years. I am 180cm tall, weigh 75kg, am 48 years old and am a level 3 ski instructor. I have no experience with free ride boots. And certainly no experience with touring boots. I understand that the Salomon Shift Pro boot is a compromise, where the emphasis is on down hill performance. I occasionally want to climb up. But 90% of my time will be on the slopes and in the back country. Do you recommend the salomon shift 120 or the 130 model? Another question I would like to ask. Salomon boot is only available in a 100mm last. I like a snug fit. Would you rather recommend the HAWX ULTRA XTD in 98mm and start the bootfit from there? The width of both my feet are 102-104 mm, foot size 42,5. To complicate my question. I tried the technica 130 mach 1 MV this season and they felt too roomy in the tow box. And had loose angle fit. Hope this extra info helps ;-)

Thanks for your advice!

Makes more sense, Arie!
If you prefer a snug fit, I'd opt for the Atomic over the Salomon. The biggest difference is in the heel, where the Salomon feels a bit roomy to me.

Hello, is there much difference between the Shift Pro 120 & the 130 models, apart from the obvious flex rating. Would you recommend one boot over the other? Is it more about weight of the skier or the type / aggressiveness of the skiing.? Many thanks!
Question by: Kevin Paul West on Mar 6, 2022, 2:55 AM
HI Kevin!
It's not a huge difference since the fit is the same--a bit stiffer of a liner in the 130, but doesn't really affect how tight it feels. Skier weight, aggressiveness, and ankle flexion all come in to play when determining ski boot flex.
