2022 Stockli Edge FT Skis w/ Salomon S/Lab Shift 13 Bindings
Stockli Edge FT Skis with Bindings
The touring ski category has seen quite a few advancements in both technology and performance over the last few years in terms of making these super light skis perform more like an all-mountain ski on the descent. Traditionally, skis that light would lack quite a bit of stability and power, but over the years, manufacturers have done a great job at enhancing these skis' performance without really adding weight to the skis. The same things could be said about the Stockli Edge FT. This touring ski from Stockli still features their signature smooth, stable and precise feel, just on a lighter ski, making climbing easier and skiing down just as fun as if you accessed your line via chairlift. Starting with their Super Light Core, the Edge also uses a thin fiberglass laminate to beef the core up a little bit. Over the wood and fiberglass lays a Titanal sheet which doubles as the top sheet. No added graphic layer means no added weight and means seamless energy transfer into the ski as the first thing your touching is metal. One might find the construction of this ski fairly reminiscent of a Stormrider, just a bit lighter. The Edge FT also features Stockli's new Freeride Tip design which helps improve float by lightening the tip and giving it a more elongated shape. A bit of tail provides a smooth release of the edge when you need to round out those quick turns while skiing those steep technical lines. Stockli designed this ski with their Vario Sidecut meaning the width of the ski is dependent on the length. The longer the ski, the wider it is. This just helps tailor the performance of the ski for certain skier profiles. Other design features that add to this ski's touring capabilities include a notch in the tail, specific for a skin clip, and their new Titec Evo topsheet. This finish not only looks really cool but it actually keeps snow off of your ski, making you life a bit easier on the skin track. Experienced skiers in need of a touring ski will love the lightweight build of the Edge FT combined with Stockli's signature smooth and precise feel.
