Stockli Nela 88 Women's Skis

Stockli has another winner on their hands for sure with the Nela 88. These skis are built and shaped for ultimate performance and versatility. There's a lot of fun to be had here with the Nela 88, and we're loving every bit of it. Like the other skis in the Nela and Stormrider series, the Nela 88 has a Titec top sheet that is made of metal. This is the defining characteristic of these skis, and the way in which they construct the rest of the ski is out of this world. It makes the price tag a bit more palatable because the build quality is just that good. With a wood core to get the snappiness and energy, the skis have a ton of pop for fun turning and carving all over the hill. We talk a lot about the 88 mm width being the ideal choice for true all-mountain versatility, and it makes a lot of sense. They're wide enough and with enough tip shape to float through fresh snow up to about 6 inches, and they're narrow enough for strong carving and high-end torsional stiffness and edge grip. If you're looking for the ultimate in versatility, this shape is the way to go, especially if you live in an area with lower snow totals. For pretty much everything and anything except for the deepest snow or the hardest ice, these things are right at home. Thanks to the shape, construction, and profile, the Stockli Nela 88 women's skis are a perfect choice for the ultimate in precision, stability, and a good old-fashioned good time.

How much do the Nella 88's for women in a 152 weigh without the bindings and with the bindings?
Question by: Cathy Della Penta on Mar 22, 2021, 9:34 PM
Hi, The skis weight 3.1 lbs each (6.2 lbs pair) and the bindings weight 2 lbs each (3.9lbs pair). Hope this helps, SE

I understand that there is a metal layer on the top of the ski. Is that at the very top, or is there a coating of some sort over the metal [titanal?].
Question by: Cathy on Mar 28, 2021, 1:55 AM
HI Cathy!
There is a very thin coating of whatever they use to keep the graphics from peeling, but it is far from structural. Have fun!

I have an old pair of 2010 Blizzard Black Pearls that have run their life. I was thinking about replacing them with Stockli Nela 88s. I am 5'2", 138 lbs., have an upper intermediate skill level, and I live in Grand Junction, Colorado. Do you think they would be a comparable ski? I definitely love an all-mountain ski. I don't know of any place to go for a demo rental to check them out, so any input would be helpful. Many thanks!
Question by: Nicole Blair on Nov 2, 2021, 9:37 PM
The Stockli Nela would be a great all mountain ski. Not great for the super deep snow & hard ice. I don't know where you could demo these in Colorado. Thanks.

Currently skiing 2016 stockli storm rider motion… How would you compare
That to the Nela 88 168…Thank you
Question by: Karen Williams on Feb 7, 2022, 8:22 PM
Hi Karen,

The Nella features metal in its construction compared to wood and glass in the old SR Motion. This would make the Nella stiffer, more damp and precise on the hardpack. Although stiffer, its still extremely versatile for a myriad of conditions except for the deepest of powder days. A one-ski quiver for many women these days, East or West. Its also an SE Tester favorite.
