Contour Set: Startup + Basic Kids Skins
Contour Set - Startup + Basic Kids Skins
This is the setup you need to get your kids skiing uphill, and that's all there is to it. The Contour Set includes the Startup Adapter and the Basic kids skins so that you can click in and head up. For years, the emergence and proliferation of backcountry and Alpine Touring gear has been aimed more at adults, but now the sport is becoming a lot more family-friendly, and sets like this are a big reason why. Whether you're using them for a dawn lap at the resort or for a day-long tour in the backcountry, the Contour kids startup set is all you'll really need to get from the bottom to the top and back down again. The Adapter is a pretty slick setup that you click your alpine boots into and then the system clicks into your alpine bindings. You then have the free heel ability and the climbing bail to get you to the top just like an adult backcountry setup. The skins will fit skis up to 140 cm and are 95 mm wide, so they should fit a good amount of kids skis. With a rubber tip hook and no tail hook, they're simple and easy to use, and the kid-friendly glue is easy to peel off and will not leave sticky residue on your skis, which can be a real bummer when you're out there in the deep snow. This setup has all you need to make your normal day into an epic one, and it makes it all so easy and simple. The adapter fits boots from 245 mm to 305, so there's a pretty good range of sizes that this kit caters to, and you'll be the parent of the year when you're laying down some mean arcs in the fresh pow with your kids.

The skins go up to a 140, but do not have a tail clip, so if you can't find anything else (not much out there these days), they will work, just will leave the last 10cm of the ski unskinned. We do have the Black Diamond Contour skins in the 181, and those can be cut, but they're also on the expensive side. Not ideal, but better than nothing!
