The Rossignol Experience 94 Ti is the widest and arguably the flagship-model of their new all mountain collection. These skis have been completely redesigned for 2019. The Experience 94 Ti offers a new waist width we’ve never had before in the Experience line and it benefits from a whole new shape and construction concept. The shape of the ski uses much more rocker, especially in the tip, as well as more taper. That should create a more maneuverable, versatile feel compared to the older Experience skis. Rossignol’s new Line Control Technology is relatively unique in the sense that it uses a vertical strip of metal in the middle of the core, instead of horizontal laminates. That reduces weight, while still providing the performance benefits of metal. The 94 uses a thicker core than the 88, so will have a stiffer, more powerful flex pattern and increased stability.
Charlie Roy tested the 187 cm length and “really loved carving on these skis. They have a super planted and stable feeling. They can smear turns when you need them to, but have great edge grip on the firm snow.” We think that’s exactly what Rossignol was going for with these new skis. The shape is focused on more maneuverability, but the construction actually takes stability and power to new heights as well. Charlie had a nice analogy for the Experience 94 Ti, “like a race car when I wanted them to be and a monster truck when I needed them to be.” We love that description. Quick, agile, and fast like a race car, but also able to plow through chopped up snow like a monster truck soaks up bumps and berms.
David Raybould also tested the 187 cm length, which he admits was too long for him, but he still had fun testing it. “It likes to charge hard and fast on wide open groomers. Very stable at speed; gives you the confidence to go fast.” The 187 cm length is probably adding to David’s experience, although we’re confident if he had been on a shorter length he would’ve still found them to be very stable and confidence inspiring. David thought that “smaller skiers will have to ski this hard. Not forgiving, but I really like the shape and technology of the new Experience line.” Keep in mind that David was skiing a long length, so he likely would’ve found a shorter length slightly more forgiving, but we think his overall reaction to the Experience 94 Ti is pretty spot on.
Benny Wax also tested the long 187 cm length, which is probably a bit long for him, but he found them to ski true to size and still thought it was a whole lot of fun. “Fun, playful, stable for long turns and easily transitions to quick short turns.” Benny is definitely feeling that combination of shape and construction. The shape allows for some quick movements, while the construction gives you the stability needed to go fast and arc big turns.
Jeff Siegel tested both the 180 and 187 cm lengths and had a lot to say about the Experience 94 Ti. He was most impressed by its power and ability at speed, which was supported by his 5 out of 5 scores for stability and edge hold. He described it as “very stable, big long turns, powerful yet energetic, and that it wants to make big/high speed carves.” Jeff also had an interesting piece of feedback that “it wants to go fast, but doesn’t want to be rushed.” While you can manipulate the ski into shorter turns, it requires some ability and good technique. “I’d classify it as an expert-only ski just because the best of the ski will be lost on lower level skiers.”
Based on the reactions from our testers we think the Experience 94 TI can handle the demands of the most aggressive skiers out there. The new Line Control Technology delivers impressive power and stability, which advanced and expert skiers will really appreciate. We’re also a big fan of the new shape of the Experience series, which works perfectly for this 94 width. Maneuverable in soft snow, powerful on groomers: it’s a true advanced to expert level all mountain ski.
