The Rossignol Delta Comp R-Skin is built with the same Nomex Honeycomb technology used in X-ium skis. This construction gives the Delta Comp R-Skin skis a lightweight energetic feeling allowing skiers to find the optimal kick area. The skin technology has come a long way and is now being used on pretty much all high-end skis. If it didn’t perform well, they wouldn’t use it. Check out why our testers think the Delta Comp R-Skin is the best bang for your buck.
Carol Van Dyke tested out the 198 cm Delta Comp R-Skin at the Nordic ski test and told us that “this was my favorite ski.” Carol found the Delta R-Skin easier to ski than the Rossignol X-iums which would make it a great option for good intermediate skiers who may want to get on some high-end skis but cannot afford World Cup level equipment or need a ski to train on. The Delta Comp R-Skin is “definitely a high-performance skin ski.” Carol found the Delta R-Skin to glide really well while she did not have to work hard for the kick which means this ski encompassed a great medium between the two contrasting aspects of classic skis. Carol, who is well versed with gear, noticed the large performance improvement in this year’s skis which she said was “stunning!” The Delta Comp R-Skin from Rossignol made Carol a believer in skin skis.
Marcus Shakun tried out the 203 Delta Comp R-Skin skis and loved how the skis responded. “The kick and glide with the R-Skin was amazing,” Marcus remarked. Marcus found the R-Skin Comp to have a “great grip when the binding was set at zero and unbelievable grip when the binding was set at two plus.” Marcus experimented with both positions and found that he had the best performance when the binding was set at zero. Marcus would recommend this ski to an advance or expert skier while a lower intermediate should consider a Sport R-Skin or XC 50 R-Skin.
Jeff Neagle tested out the Rossignol Delta Comp R-Skin back to back with the Rossignol R-Skin Sport. The price difference between the two different models is about one hundred dollars and Jeff highly recommends the upgrade. Whether you’re racing or not, one hundred dollars goes a long way in terms of overall performance. Jeff thinks that the Delta Comp R-Skin “would be a good choice for a high school ski racer or for someone who is bringing their classic skiing technique to a high level.” While generally racers look for waxable skis for the high-level tunability, these skis are really fast considering their price. Jeff found the Delta Comp R-Skin to be the perfect level for himself. The Delta Comp R-Skin had a perfect mix of performance and value. If you are not racing competitively you probably do not need more performance than what the Delta Comp R-Skins have to offer.
“FAST FAST FAST!” is how Owen Hall-Kocho described the Delta Comp R-Skin to be an “awesome tool for gliding fast while getting great grip.” The power to weight ratio of the Delta Comp R-Skin is one of the highlights of the ski. The shape of the skis is quite narrow and thus requires a well-balanced skier to properly maneuver them. Owen also noted how this ski requires “good skier input” as the Delta R-Skin is a high-performance ski.
For those looking for a classic ski with good glide and an easy to set kick that doesn’t slow you down, consider the Delta Comp R-Skin. The Delta Comp was not made to be the most versatile ski on the market, for it was made to excel in the track. It would be a great choice for a high school ski racer looking to take their skiing to the next level without dipping too deeply into their funds.
