2020 Rossignol Delta Sport R-Skin

The 2020 Rossignol Delta Sport R-Skin classic skis are a fantastic option for intermediate and advanced skiers who are looking for a strong setup for in-track skiing. It’s on the low-end for a race ski, but it has a lot of upside for a wide variety of skiers. Built with the same shape as the higher-end classic race skis in Rossignol’s line, the Delta Sport, equipped with the skin, is ready to log some serious miles out there in the Nordic Center. A lot of our testers found the skis to be a great mix of value, performance, and light weight. Built with a wood core and an active cap construction, the skis have a ton of snap and pop for a lot of different skiers. For that sport or fitness-level skiers who don’t need a super high-performance ski but still like to have nice things, the Delta Sport R-Skin is a great choice.

Sam Purnell skied on the 196 cm Delta Sport and had her bindings set at zero. The plate can be moved forward or back to gain more grip or glide, but zero is a good place to start. She gave top scores of 5 out of 5 for versatility and overall impression. As a result, she comments “I love this ski! Heavier, but same shape as the Delta Comp, but with more grip.” She also notes that the camber is “great grip on the uphills and smooth on the downhills.” And in terms of intended audience, Sam pegs the Delta Sport as “good for intermediate skiers who want to control grip and glide without worrying about temperature or wax.”

Karin Rand was on the 186 and gave the skis solid 4’s right across the board. This type of scoring usually indicates a very well-rounded ski with nothing really sticking out one way or another. She calls it “very playful! I really liked this ski for a fast recreational ski. Great stability and glide resulting in a nice easy ski. Lots of fun for advanced skiers who want to get a high level of performance but are not racing continuously.” Obviously a lot of nice things from Karin here, who picks out some great qualities of these skis.

Jeffrey Siegel loved his 196 cm test length Delta Sport. He gave top scores of 5 out of 5 for speed, glide, weight, and overall impression. These sound a lot like qualities that skiers should be looking for in their classic skis. “This ski is awesome” Jeff remarks. “Easy to ski, stable and fast. It has a lot of the best characteristics of the beginner skis but much faster.” And in terms of target audience, Jeff notes that he, himself, is right at the heart of that aim, and he “thinks it would work for a wide variety of skiers.” That’s the type of feedback we’re looking for in this category—something that performs very well and is accessible for a large number of skiers.

Classic skiers who spend the majority of their time in the track will love the light weight and high performance of the Rossignol Delta Sport R-Skin skis. When they’re combined with the IFP binding plate and can be customized to create more grip or glide, you get a versatile, accessible, and fast setup that’s going to take you all over the Nordic center with zero complaints.
