2020 Rossignol Evo XC 60

The Rossignol EVO XC 60 is a versatile Nordic ski for both in and out of the track. The 60 mm tip width allows users to fit into groomed classic tracks but is also wide enough to float through soft fresh snow off of the groomers. This ski uses a Positrack waxless base with the fish scale pattern molded straight into the base of the ski instead of cutting out of the base, which gives it increased grip compared to skis like the XC 49 and XC 59. The EVO XC 60 is also relatively lightweight thanks to Rossignol’s LDC core construction. Check out what our testers have to say about the EVO XC 60 skis from Rossignol.

Owen Hall-Kocho tested the 186 and found the XC 60 to be a “stable and easy ski on almost every type of snow.” When Owen took the XC 60 up some of the steep pitches at Trapps, he told us the EVO XC 60 skis “climb like a banshee.” On the downhills, Owen found it easy to engage a turn on the EVO XC 60 skis. Owen thinks that “if you are only going to have one pair of skis and you want them to be good on the ups and downs, at slow speed and high speed, and on the groomers and in the woods, the Rossignol XC 60 is a perfect option.” He found the 60 mm width of the EVO XC 60 to float a surprising amount in the soft snow. Owen is certain the Rossignol EVO XC 60 “can take you anywhere but also get you home on time every time.”

Allison Ruschp tested the 176 cm Rossignol EVO XC 60 and really enjoyed how it performed. Alli found the EVO XC 60 to be a perfectly pleasant ski for everyone. Alli enjoyed the wide width, which she felt increased stability and the loved the more advanced Positrack kick zone compared to skis with the fish scales cut out of the base. Alli took the EVO XC 60 off the trail and found that while they work well off trail, she thought “they are really at home on the groomed touring center trails.” While Alli thinks that the EVO XC skis would be prefect for beginners to intermediate skiers, she also thinks that any Nordic enthusiast can have fun on them.

Shelby Parenteau was on the 176 cm Rossignol EVO XC and “enjoyed the speed the skis delivered.” Shelby was able to get into a better and faster rhythm than when she tested the Rossignol EVO Glade 59. When Shelby took the EVO XC 60 skis downhill, she found them to be “very stable and easy to maneuver.” Shelby “enjoyed the 60 mm tip width as it makes the skis super versatile.” Shelby feels she could take the EVO XC 60 almost anywhere. She found the EVO XC 60 to be very user friendly. She rated the EVO XC 60 a five out five for overall impression.

Jeffrey Siegel also found the Rossignol EVO XC 60 to perform better than the Rossignol EVO Glade 49 and Rossignol EVO Glade 59. Jeff tested the 186 cm Rossignol EVO XC 60 and “really enjoyed how stable and grippy they were.” Jeff notes that “the EVO XC 60 would be a great pair of beginner skis.” Jeff’s opinion is that the EVO XC 60 skis have a bit more performance than similar options from competitors. The EVO XC 60 is a great option for beginners and leaves a lot of room to grow too.

The Rossignol EVO XC 60 is a great option for just about anyone. While many of our testers thought these would be a good choice for someone just getting started, many also noted that anyone, up to high level and expert XC skiers can enjoy the performance and versatility of these skis. They cruise groomed classic tracks quite efficiently, yet have the width, shape, and flex pattern for versatile performance outside your local XC touring center.
