2020 Rossignol X-IUM Skating Premium S2

The X-ium Premium S2 from Rossignol is a top-performing skate ski. Built with carbon fiber and designed for speed, the Rossignol X-ium Premium S2 feels like it could bring anyone to the top of a World Cup podium. Check out what our testers have to say about the X-ium Premium S2.

The 187 cm Rossignol X-ium Premium S2 made Jeff Neagle feel like he was back in his racing days. While the X-ium Premium S2 skis are not exactly cheap, it seems like you are still getting more than what you paid for. The top of the line construction and profile will give any skier with a good skate technique a competitive edge. Jeff Neagle told us that the Rossignol X-ium S2 was the nicest ski he tried at the ski test. Jeff stated that “top of the line equipment goes a long way.” At the ski test, Jeff found himself blowing by people that generally skied the same speed as him. When compared the Rossignol X-ium S1, Jeff found the X-ium S2 to be “more energetic while not quite as smooth.”

Mackenzie Rizio really enjoyed how playful and light weight the skis are. When Mackenzie took the X-ium Premium S2 downhill, she found them to be “FAST!” Mackenzie told us this ski was “better on the downhill than on the uphill for they are very easy to maneuver and glide.” Having a race ski at this level that allows you to maneuver easily can be a great advantage for those who are very powerful but maybe not as technically skilled as other racers. Mackenzie really enjoyed the X-ium Premium S2 for she gave it a five out of five in the Overall Impression category.

Ellen Curran found the 174 cm Rossignol X-ium Premium S2 skis to be “Ready to race!” Ellen was impressed with how easy it was to use the X-ium Premium S2 skis. Ellen enjoyed how smooth yet lively the skis were because “she could easily transfer power from one foot to the ski and onto the snow.” The X-ium Premium S2 was Ellen’s favorite pair of skis from the test. Ellen gave the X-ium Premium S2 skis a five out of five in every category (speed, stability, maneuverability, glide weight and overall impression)!

Marcus Shakun tried the 193 cm X-ium Premium S2 and gave it the highest ratings he could. Marcus found the X-ium Premium S2 to be “relatively versatile as it performed well in both soft and hard snow.” He found the Premium S2 to be “lively and energetic.” When moving around on the trails, the Premium S2 skis were very responsive and gave back all the energy he put into them. These were the smoothest and fastest skate skis Marcus used at the ski test. Marcus noted how he enjoyed the X-ium Premium S2 in the softer snow compared to its counterpart, the X-ium Premium S1.

The X-ium Premium S2 is a great option for stronger skiers who want a top-level skate ski for a range of conditions. The X-ium Premium S2 offers a high-end feel that will give competent skate skiers an edge on the trails. Spoil yourself with this piece of high-end gear, you won’t regret it. If you can, pair the X-ium Premium S2 with the Rossignol SK Carbon boots for an optimal set up for going fast!
