The Rossignol Evo OT 65 is a great overall and well-rounded touring ski. It’s one of our most popular models here at SkiEssentials.com, and it’s easy to see why. The OT 65 offers great control, balance and overall feel for skiers of all levels. The OT 65 has a waxless Positrack base paired with partial metal edges for great performance in all snow conditions. The engineers behind the OT 65 wanted to create a ski that could easily ascend but also predictably descend for a great all-around experience. The OT 65 is a solid Nordic ski on corduroy and in the tracks, from the metal edges through the fish scale grips.
Marcus Shakun enjoyed the versatility of the 196 cm Rossignol OT 65. Marcus found the OT 65 to both climb and glide very well. Marcus was “impressed with how well the OT 65 climbed–good grip can be great for beginner or intermediate skiers at it will inspire confidence.” When Marcus took the OT 65 off the Nordic track and into softer snow, he found the skis did not have great stability which might make maneuvering challenging. The OT 65 is relatively lightweight for its class. This aspect may be appealing to beginner or lower intermedia skiers as it will make the skier feel stronger than they are. In summation, Marcus found the OT 65 to be a great ski for off track and in track. The strong edges will help to build confidence for intermediate skiers.
Steph Locke enjoyed the nice wide profile of the 175 cm Rossignol OT 65. “The metal edges on the OT 65 do a great job giving the skier grip when the snow gets firm.” When Steph took the OT 65 onto the crusty windblown snow, he was amazed with how well the edges performed. The OT 65 stayed stable through the different conditions and was awarded a five out of five for stability. Steph found “the modern fish scales on the OT 65 to grip really well on the uphill pitches.” When Steph took the OT 65 off trail and though a wide range of snow conditions, he was not disappointed with how well the skis handled. Steph can see why the OT 65 is a best seller.
Allison Ruschp tested the 175 cm Rossignol OT 65 and found it to be a “great ski for the backyard and beyond.” Alli really enjoyed the metal edges as they helped her to navigate downhill, giving her traction around turns. The OT 65 remained stable under Alli’s feet through different snow conditions on and off the trail which made using the ski a fun experience. Alli would recommend the Rossignol OT 65 “to those getting started with Nordic skiing. If someone is looking for a solid ski for the back yard or golf course rip, the OT 65 is a perfect choice.”
The OT 65 is good ski for beginner skiers all the way up to anyone who just wants to mess around on the groomed trails or in the woods. The metal edges are a great feature if you find yourself in icy conditions regularly as you will be able to get traction on everything. While the OT 65 is more beginner oriented, even our more experience skiers had a fun time ripping the OT 65 around. The Rossignol OT 65 is not the lightest ski on the market, but it is pretty lightweight in the entry level ski category.
