2024 BLACK CROWS CAMOX SKIS
Described as an “all-terrain toy,” the 2024 Black Crows Camox is certainly that and more. Freestyle inspired with immense directional all-mountain capabilities, the Camox is made for the creative. Skiers who are looking for a ski to do-it-all and that perform in all areas will find this ski to be the one that they have been looking for, the diamond in the rough, the needle in the haystack, that one fish in the ocean. The twin tip shape allows for endless maneuvers both on snow, in the air, and on rails. While its camber combines with along effective edge makes carving intuitive and energetic. Whether you are looking for a dedicated park ski, dedicated all-mountain ski, or somewhere in the middle, the Camox will do it all with ease.

For a ski that has such a complex variety of applications, its construction is not so complex as it is effective. A poplar wood core with reinforcing fiberglass laminates makes for a robust yet playful flex pattern and weighs 3650 gram at the 180.4 cm length. This recipe is similar to most of the Black Crows skis, but the Camox seems to have more fiberglass than that of the Atris or Mirus Cor. With the additional fiberglass, there is some stiffness in the especially underfoot and directly behind the heelpiece of the bindings. This assists with carving performance as energy from this area is released at the exit of the turn and smoothly transitioning from edge-to-edge. Stability in this area is also great for freestyle applications like jumps as the skis will be composed when taking heavy impacts. However, in the extremities, there is enough softness for playfulness and creativity. The Camox’s poplar and fiberglass construction is an awesome balance between freestyle and directional which makes it a fantastic choice for someone that is looking to do everything on the mountain.

Taking the 180.4cm length, the Camox will have a maximum forebody width of 130mm, a waist width of 97mm, and a tail width of 118mm. This sidecut generates a turning radius of 20 meters which is relatively long for a twin tip, but not that outlandish. For instance, the Atomic Bent 100 has a 19.5 meter turn radius at the 180 cm length. Now, the Camox will certainly be a bit more stiff that the Bent, so if you are looking for a burlier and more stable ski that is like the Bent, the Camox would make for a great option. The 130 mm width in the tips provides some floatation for those soft snow days as well as through chopped up snow. Tip to tail taper assists with smooth turn initiation and maneuverability. Even with the tip to tail taper, the Camox is symmetrical enough to allows for a lot of switch skiing.
From soft snow, to groomers, to the trees and park, the Camox delivers on all front with unrelenting versatility. Skiers of all abilities and types will find this ski to be the jack of all trades that they have been looking for. With a robust yet playful construction and modern freeride shape, the Camox will bring out your creativity anywhere on the mountain.
