2024 Black Crows Vertis Skis

2024 BLACK CROWS VERTIS SKIS

$799.95

Returning for 2024, the Black Crows Vertis is an approachable resort ski that is intuitive, responsive, and highly approachable. Likely the most approachable frontside oriented ski in the Black Crows collection, the Vertis is perfect for the intermediate skier looking to improve their technique or for the advanced skier who is focused on cruising instead of pushing the envelope. An extremely well-rounded ski that uses a simple construction that produces a high-quality ski and high-quality performance. The Vertis is a wonderful example of a simply well thought out 85 mm waisted all-mountain ski as there are not many skiers out there that would not enjoy its low-maintenance, fun-having nature.

The Vertis has a somewhat simple construction that yields fantastic results both on trail and off trail. Starting with a poplar wood core, which supplies energy and responsiveness to your turns. Supporting this, two full fiberglass laminates are pressed on the top and bottom of the wood core to strengthen the ski overall. Fiberglass laminates add stability and torsional stiffness to improve carving performance and edge grip in firm snow conditions. The energy of the poplar core combined with the torsional and longitudinal rigidity of the fiberglass make for an impressive balance between forgiveness and performance. With this build comes a very lightweight ski that will not tire you out and will have you skiing from bell to bell. In the 175.4cm length, a pair of Vertis’ weigh 3350 grams. This is extremely light for a ski in this category which makes it great for skiers that want to have maximum control and maneuverability.

Just as the Vertis has a simple yet effective construction, the same goes for its shape. Starting with an all-mountain style profile consisting of rocker/camber/rocker. There is about 10% tip rocker, 85% camber, and 5% tail rocker which is what is typically seen in a lot of mid 80mmwaisted all-mountain skis. There is enough tip rocker to float in fresh snow without compromising effective edge length which is perfect for a ski in this category. Significant and pronounced camber underfoot supplies maximum edge grip throughout the turn and energy at the end of the turn. Slight tail rocker makes the Vertis have some playfulness to it while maintaining strong edge contact and strong release. At the 175.4cm length, the sidecut of the Vertis comes in at 128mm at the forebody, 85mm underfoot, and 111mm in the tail. A very effective shape and one that compliments the construction nicely as there is certainly some floatation to be had from the tips with a frontside carving attitude throughout the rest of the ski.

For skiers looking for a well-rounded, intuitive, and versatile ski that utilizes a simple yet effective construction and shape, the 2024 Black Crows Vertis would be a wonderful choice. High quality materials and design produce a ski that skiers of all ability levels will enjoy in a variety of conditions and settings. Intermediate skiers would thoroughly enjoy the Vertis for its ease of maneuverability, smooth turn initiation, and edge to edge quickness. More advanced skiers would enjoy this ski as it is not very taxing on the legs and is great for cruising. Overall, the Vertis is a great choice for many skiers and is far too often overlooked. A lot of people would benefit from having a ski like this as it is more realistic for their application than other, extremely stiff, dual metal laminate skis that are far too overpowered.
