2024 Head Rebels E-Race Skis

2024 HEAD REBELS E-RACE SKIS

The 2024 Head World Cup Rebels E-Race is a fantastic choice for a front side carver, former racer, and on-piste enthusiasts who finds themselves in a relentless pursuit of the perfectly round turn. These skis deliver a ton of power and precision to the edges, mainly by relying on Head’s race room construction. While they come in a friendlier and more accessible shape, the overall tone of the ski is quite rugged and burly. If you’re in the market for more of a mid-radius style of ski that can carve with the best of them, this is one of the best of the bunch. The big benefit that Head has is their success in the race world and their ability to filter that technology into the real world. As a result, skiers from a variety of backgrounds, so long as they’re in the expert category, can find a whole lot of success on the Rebels E-Race.

The wood core is at the heart of the construction, and Head uses a series of vertical stringers all glued together to maximize stiffness and power. We get two titanal layers on top and bottom of the wood core, a full-length fiberglass laminate on the bottom of the metal, and two additional glass sheets on top. Through the central chord of the ski, Head uses a graphene strip to stiffen the ski without adding a whole lot of weight. This keeps the ski strong and reactive through the duration of the turn. While some of this material may lead to chatter, the use of damping layers as well as the implementation of their Energy Management Circuit to the mix. This technological aspect of the ski acts as a radiator, reducing chatter and vibrations through the use of an absorbent circuit. It works, and keeps the ski on its intended course at any speed or edge angle. If you’re concerned about creating those angles, fear not, the ski uses a Raceplate Evo 14 to accommodate more leverage and greater edge hold.

With a slimmed-down shape when compared to a Supershape E-Speed, the Rebels E-Race focuses more on the mid-range carve with more wiggle room for a variety of turn shape and styles. With narrower tips and tails but the same 68-mm waist, this ski is a straighter, more fall-line oriented ski with speed on its mind. It’s a great choice for a citizen’s race ski, thanks to the 14.8-meter turn radius in the 170 cm length. This makes it an ideal choice for gates that fall between slalom and GS, as well as opening up the on-trail turns to a multitude of carving options. There’s not a whole lot to talk about when it comes to rocker, for there is none. In terms of taper, the ski is very square in the tail and while rounded in the shovel, it’s not terribly friendly.

There is no doubt that this ski feels and performs like a modern-day race ski. The fact that it’s useful on the trails makes it appealing to a broad range of racers and experts. The type of high-end skiing that’s to be done on these skis can really only take place on firm and groomed snow—any type of versatility is mainly due to the turn shape and style rather than terrain and conditions. The firmer the better with the 2024 Head World Cup Rebels E-Race.
