2024 HEAD REBELS E-SPEED PRO SKIS
In the world of high-speed on-trail skiing, the 2024 Head World Cup Rebels E-Speed Pro emerges as a legitimate contender. With an upgraded plate, a straighter cut, and a race-room paint job differing itself from the normal Rebels E-Speed, these skis have a great blend of long-turning capabilities and smooth-as-silk dampness that make those upper velocities seem like nothing at all. It’s all about having a quiet and stable ski underfoot when achieving high edge angles and top speeds, and these skis have that in spades. These skis fall into that category of a master's ski that consists of the real-deal world cup construction, but in a friendlier shape. There’s not a whole lot of versatility built in here, but for what it does, it does better than most. The ski’s application is about as narrow as its waist, making it more of a one-trick pony rather than a one-ski quiver.

The Rebels E-Speed Pro features the real-deal World Cup construction, and it gets its main source of power from the combination of vertical wood stringers. By gluing multiple vertical stringers together, the stiffness and responsiveness is out of this world. Any time we’re using these materials in a more vertical manner, it greatly stiffens the flex. Think of an I-Beam and how that works, and then apply those principles to the ski world. With a full fiberglass laminate underfoot, and two additional glass fiber laminates on top of the core, this ski is already set up for on-trail carving success. Head is not yet satisfied, though, as they add their graphene backbone to the mix, making this ski quite a bit stiffer without adding a ton of weight. To balance these stiff materials, Head uses a combination of dampening layers and their Energy Management Circuit. The EMC functions as a radiator for unwanted vibrations, filtering them out and resulting in a smooth and predictable overall character. To ensure proper edge angles and underfoot stability, Head uses a burly Race Plate WCR 14 Short to boost the leverage and get more grip.

With measurements of 108/65/93 mm, the Rebels E-Speed Pro generates a turn radius of 20.5-meters in the 180 cm length. This allows the ski to go very fast with minimal resistance from the turn shape and radius. This thing is built and shaped to hit maximum velocity for hard-charging skiers who want no compromise when it comes to stability and power. This radius falls closer to the GS side of the spectrum, and while it’s still certainly shorter than an FIS level ski, most high-end recreational skiers are looking more for this than that. There’s no rocker or taper to speak of, this ski is fully cambered with true tip to tail edge engagement. As such, the smoothness of the ski in a carved turn is off the charts.
While the performance is incredibly high, the versatility is accordingly low. There’s not a whole lot else that this ski can do, and there’s not a whole lot of skiers who match up with the performance level. This makes the 2024 Head World Cup Rebels E-Speed Pro a fairly one-dimensional ski, but in that realm, it’s tops in its class. For former racers and expert skiers who want that top-end feel and power, this is about as good as it gets.
