2024 LIBERTY EVOLV 84 WOMEN'S SKI
The 2024 Liberty Evolv 84W is an amazing choice for intermediate and advanced ladies who love to spend most of their time on groomed and smooth terrain. If you’re looking for a ski that’s light, quiet, stable, and powerful in a carved turn, then the Liberty Evolv 84W is an excellent ski. As a company, Liberty is much better known for making more freeride-oriented skis, but with the Evolv series, they take their construction methods to new highs as a result of them leaning on their VMT vertical metal technology. We’ve seen this for a few years now, and with the Evolv W series of skis adding a third metal strut to the mix, the performance of this group of skis is now off the charts awesome. The Evolv 84W has a great wide-bodied shape to it that allows for serious front side skiing with a bit of versatility built in for adventure and fun. That's what it’s all about out there, and Liberty makes a lot of sense when it comes to on-trail performance and fun-loving carving properties.
Built with a VMT 3.0W core, the Evolv 84W is a prime example of modern ski technology absolutely crushing it. They use a blend of poplar, paulownia, and bamboo to get the ski its power and stability while the three vertical metal struts do a bulk of the heavy lifting when it comes to strength and silence. The amazing part is that the metal doesn’t weigh a whole lot because it’s used efficiently. In the 158 cm length, these skis weigh 1495 grams per ski, which for a strong front side ski is very light. On top and bottom of the core are two sheets of fiberglass, and then on top of the poplar stringers we get two strips of carbon that stiffen the ski and make it more responsive and agile. With this sophisticated build, the Evolv 84W is an amazing ski that carves like a much heavier version of itself.
| Length | Radius | Sidecut |
|---|---|---|
| 151, 158, 165 cm | 14.5 m at 165 cm | 126/84/110 mm |

A lot of that has to do with the shape and profile as well. While some skis out there in the mid-80's underfoot have more of an all-mountain and rounded shape to them, the Evolv 84W is decidedly squarer and flatter. The tail is quite sharp, with minimal to no taper or rocker. This makes the ski exit from a turn with a tremendous amount of precision and power. It’s stiff back there, so if you’re expecting some type of playful end to the turn, it’s not likely going to happen. The shovel has low rocker and a low profile with minimal splay. This is a nod to the front side performance of the ski. While there’s a bit more rounding of the front, it’s still nowhere near as tapered as some other 84’s out there that are more versatile.
Best when used by advanced and expert skiers who spend most of their time in an on-trail format, the 2024 Liberty Evolv 90W is an amazing ski that has near record silence. These things are about as smooth and quiet as any ski out there on the market today. The fact that they do it using technology and sophistication makes the success of this ski all the more impressive. Hopefully more skiers get out there on an Evolv 90W as it’s an overlooked ski that should be at the forefront of more frontside conversations.
