If some Bacon is good, then more Bacon is better! The new 2024 Line Bacon 115 is an extension of a previously loved line of skis, putting some new marks on the model while keeping a lot of the fun-loving personality very much the same. For soft snow, deep powder, and distant backcountry booters, this ski is a pure treat. By taking the basic shaping and construction profiles with the new Bacon 108 and adding rocker and width, the 115 is an ideal choice for freeride skiers who focus on creativity and passion. This thing is all about having fun, and it makes a lot of sense when you look at its lines and feel the flex. There are a lot of skiers out there who focus their time on both powder and freestyle, and when you merge the two, you need a pretty specific ski. In this light, the Bacon 115 is a remarkable development, and while it fits the needs of a narrower group of skiers, that’s what it takes to make a memorable ski experience.

By using a maple macroblock wood core as the base, this allows the engineers at Line to be able to adjust the thickness with ease. The macroblock stringers mean that there’s more wood and less epoxy, so the feel is purer and more natural. The use of Thin Tip technology in the ski makes it easy to smear, butter, and drift, even though the shape is on the wide side. Underfoot, they keep the wood pretty darn thick, and when they pair that with the width, it makes for a very sturdy ski. In fact, in the 188, the ski sits on the scale at 2340 grams, making it pretty hefty for a ski without metal. That said, it doesn’t feel particularly bulky, mainly because the swing weight is so incredibly low. At the very tips and tails, the wood is eliminated to further the weight reduction, as Line relies solely on base material, topsheet, and Bio-Resin to hold the ski together. In the soft snow, this is a dream—floating effortlessly through the fresh with minimal resistance.

The width, rocker, and taper are always involved when talking about the shape of a ski, but this Bacon 115 has all of those attributes accentuated to the nth degree. Thanks to the 115 mm waist, flotation is a premium, and the 148 mm tips and 138 mm tails combine to create an18.4-meter turn radius, and for a ski this wide, that’s on the short and playful side of the spectrum. It’s all about having fun on this ski, and these attributes certainly contribute to that effect. Like the Bacon 108, we’re also getting a dramatic rocker profile, with slightly more tip than tail, but still a lot. In addition, the taper is fairly sharp and pointy, leading to smooth entry and rudder-like tail performance in the deep stuff.

The new Line Bacon 115 will be a great option for skiers looking to get the most out of their snow days on the hill. This type of sturdiness in a twin tip isn’t normally found at this level—most of its peers have either a lighter build or a more directional shape. This makes the Bacon 115 a fairly unique ski in this application, and it’s all the more to like if you are an aggressive and progressive skier that prefers something that holds up as well as lets go.
