2024 Rossignol Hero Master LT Skis

2024 ROSSIGNOL HERO MASTER LT SKIS

For a fast and sturdy ski, the 2024 Rossignol Hero Master LT has quite a bit of technology going on. This is the real-deal race construction in a friendlier shape, allowing mere mortal skiers the opportunity to get on a strong and stable ski that has no limitations when it comes to speed. Rossignol is unique in that they build these skis, and as such, there’s a narrow audience. This is more of a tool than a toy for most skiers, providing a business-like character to those who either participate in Masters GS races or who are just out there ripping groomers and channeling their inner World Cup hero.

Built with an ash core and two titanal laminates, this ski gets a stiff and hefty start. There’s no mistaking that this is a real race ski with that build. Rossignol is happy to take it a step further, though with some interesting technologies that add to the overall performance and character of the ski. With Line Control Technology running through the central spine of the ski, turn stability is greatly improved. This vertical laminate keeps the ski from counter flexing and smooths out the entire ride. It’s a proven technology on the World Cup and it allows citizen racers the opportunity to feel the precision and power of the ski in a normal ski format. Additionally, Rossignol employs their Cascade Tip construction that blends the top layers of metal and fiberglass together in the shovel. This decreases swing weight and increases precision and grip. This does add up to a heavy ski, with the 179 hitting the scale at 2300 grams per ski. You’re also getting an R22 race plate, so that’s a bonus, especially when this ski costs about $1300 without a binding.

In terms of shaping, the GS cut is fully alive with this Master LT. Mixing a 115 mm tip, a 70 mm waist, and a 97 mm tail, this ski produces a 19-meter turn radius. While that falls short of a true FIS ski, it’s more in line with what mortal skiers actually do out there on the hill, whether you’re in gates or not. Built with a fully cambered profile, this ski has no rocker to fall back on, increasing the demand load on the skier and making it tough to not pay attention. While the waist seems narrow, it’s still not quite what we see on the race circuit, offering up a slightly wider platform for skiers to stand on and create their carves upon. With no taper either, the reactivity of this ski is off the charts—simply get it up on edge slightly, and it’s off and running.

While the performance level of this ski is very high, the versatility and audience are quite small. There’s not a whole lot else to do with this ski other than rip high-speed GS turns on firm snow and ice. Consequently, there aren’t many skiers out there who will fully appreciate this ski as they likely don’t have the strength, balance, or skill set to ultimately top out the performance. This is not an insult, rather the reality of the situation—this Rossignol Hero Master LT is a beast of a GS ski.
