2024 SALOMON QST SPARK SKIS
The 2024 Salomon QST Spark is a fantastic choice for a huge range of skiers. The sizing and construction of this ski allows it to be acceptable for tweener and youth skiers as well as being a fun-loving twin tip all-mountain ski for adults. There’s a lot of fun to be had here, and while it falls a bit differently on the performance and application spectrum from the other skis in the QST line, it still has the fun-loving personality that makes the whole line as special as it is. With a system binding and endless possibilities, this ski is definitely overlooked, but we’re trying to change that for sure.

For a tweener ski, this thing is really well-built. Sometimes, there’s beauty in simplicity, and that’s what we’re getting with the QST Spark. Built with an energetic poplar wood core, this is a real-deal ski that has pop and snap to go along with light weight, agility, and rebound. To make the ski more maneuverable, Salomon uses a stepdown sidewall technique that keeps the underfoot zone grippy and poppy while the tips and tails get lighter and easier to use. For the younger skiers of the world, this is a big help when it comes to linking carved turns on the groomers as well as progressing in the park and other freestyle applications. With a Salomon M10 Gripwalk binding system, this setup is not only a whole lot of fun, but also a great value. For sizes, we’re getting six of them, ranging from 141’s to 178’s, opening this ski up to a huge number of skiers.

At 85 mm underfoot, the QST Spark has a ton of versatility to it. This width allows skiers to stay on the trail and get some good torsional stiffness, while also making it easy to get off-trail and be more adventurous. Of course, the most fun part of this ski is the twin tip shape. For aspiring freestylers and those who view the mountain as their playground, twin tips are the perfect tools for the job. The 117 mm tip and the 109 mm tail of the 164 combine to generate a 15-meter turn radius. That arc increases with the longer skis and decreases with the shorter ones, so the ski does retain much of the same character among sizes. With mostly camber underfoot, there is tip and tail rocker to make things smoother through the transition phases of the turn, but overall, this ski is very energetic due to the built in pop of the camber.
For a wide range of skiers looking for a playful, snappy, and grippy ski that’ll take them through the park and beyond, the 2024 Salomon QST Spark is a very capable option. The fact that it comes with a binding and has so many length options makes this a very attractive ski, not just for skiers, but also for retailers. Equally at home in the bumps and trees as the park and pipe, this ski has a fun-loving character with a lot of charm.
