2024 STOCKLI LASER MX SKIS W/ MC 11 BINDINGS

$1349

The 2024 Stockli Laser MX is a ladies-focused ski that excels on the firm snow, allowing for high-end casual skiing for advanced skiers who are looking for the utmost in smoothness and stability. There’s a huge range of skier that can use the MX, but for terrain application, it’s a lot more at home on groomed and smooth terrain. Stockli takes great care in each and every one of their skis, and the precision and quality is easy to note. With a Swiss feel and a handmade construction, these skis are top-end and a whole lot of fun. It’s a great mirror into what Stockli is doing as far as on-trail skis, and since most of what they make is more carving-focused, these skis slide right in with the best of them.

Built with a lightweight wood core to make it easy to initiate and complete turns, the Laser MX’s light core is boosted by the soft flex and light metal edge to make it a crisp, yet manageable carver. Adding to the maneuverable nature of the ski, Stockli uses their Turtle Shell method of construction which uses interlocking plates of metal that allow for greater smoothness and predictability when in a carved turn, and then easier and more mellow slow-speed control for then the skiing falls to the more casual side of the spectrum. It’s one of those things that you can feel, but can’t quite put your finger on why it’s happening, but that’s the reason why. We also see metal through the tail, making this ski complete turns with a strong and stable character.

In terms of shape, the MX features a 67-mm waist, and this is certainly on the narrow side of the spectrum, especially for a ski that’s not a race ski. That said, a lot of shaping characteristics do filter down from the more slalom-side of Stockli’s line, and this makes sense due to the ski’s ability and willingness to make short and round turns. In the 158, we’re getting a 12.6-meter turn radius, so it’s pretty safe to say that these skis come across the fall line nicely. That said, they like to be in a turn, so riding them flat isn’t quite as easy or fun as some more freeride-oriented skis. They do have tip and tail rocker, allowing for an easy entry and exit, and adding some confidence for when the snow gets softer or cut up in the latter portions of the day.

Ladies who spend a lot of time on groomers will love the ease of use, stability, confidence, and edge grip of the 2024 Stockli Laser MX. These skis are quick and agile, allowing for both progression as well as a high-performance ceiling. While the versatility isn’t quite what most would expect from an all-mountain ski, it most certainly excels where it’s meant to be used, and that’s on any type of groomer, no matter how firm the conditions may be.
