2025 Blizzard Zero G 105 Skis

2025 BLIZZARD ZERO G 105 SKIS

$899.95

The widest of Blizzard’s touring specific ski, the Zero G 105 makes its return, unchanged, for 2024. This wide backcountry ski is light and full of energy, providing skiers with an efficient and rewarding ski for both uphill and downhill travel. The Zero G 105 has a versatile width and shape that is well-suited for all types of touring missions. Although on the wider side for touring specifically, you are certainly rewarded on the descents with float and stability. In the touring discipline, it is all about finding a balance between uphill efficiency and downhill performance. The 105 certainly strikes this balance, especially when paired with a lightweight tech binding or hybrid style binding. It is a go-to ski for fresh snow days, where you want to avoid the lift lines and find untracked terrain. For a versatile touring ski that can handle any and all conditions and terrains, the 2024 Blizzard Zero G 105 is the ultimate tool for your next expedition.

How does the Zero G 105 accomplish being lightweight but also strong? That comes down to its construction. A lightweight paulownia wood core is supported by a carbon fiber laminate called Carbon Drive Technology 3.0. Paulownia is a common material used for touring skis since it has a relatively low density but still provides the feedback needed for intense descending. Carbon Fiber is extremely strong and light, which makes it the perfect pairing to go along with the paulownia core. The Carbon Drive Technology 3.0 used carbon fiber in a 3D format which strengthens the overall ski by a good margin. The technology is intended to improve playfulness, improve stability, provide edge grip, and increase control. Combined, in the 180cm length, the 105’s weight comes in at 3060 grams. An absurd number for a 105mmwaisted ski. What this looks like on the snow is a highly capable and stable ski that can handle almost any backcountry mission chosen for it.

Shape-wise, the Zero G 105 shares many similarities to that of a freeride ski with features like a Rocker/Camber/Rocker profile and wide-bodied sidecut. A good amount of tip rocker keeps you floating above the fresh snow as well as smooth turn initiation. Camber underfoot not only provides edge grip in the steeps and on wind-blown, firm snow, but also incredible energy and responsive to the ski. Tail rocker permits a great amount of pivot and maneuverability for when carrying out tight turns in chutes/couloirs or when wiggling through the trees. The freeride-like sidecut for the Zero G 105, at the 180cm length, consists of 133mm in the forebody, 105mm at the waist, and 120mm in the tail, which generates a turning radius of 23 meters. This sidecut is extremely versatile as it can handle any type of snow conditions. Obviously, they will perform best in soft snow as that’s what they are designed for. But the 105’s are also designed to perform in any type of snow. As a touring ski, they need to be able to be trusted in all situations while in the backcountry and Blizzard has done a great job with the 105 to find the balance between weight, shape, and stability.

Ski touring equipment has progressed so quickly in recent years, and the 2024 Blizzard Zero G 105 is a great example of how far things have come. By using lightweight materials, like paulownia and carbon fiber, and modern construction techniques, like putting the carbon fiber into a 3-Dimensional format, the 105 finds a balance between uphill and downhill performance.
