If you ski or snowboard long enough, you know what it feels like to just stick to the snow and go absolutely nowhere. It's a frustrating experience, and you need to do one of two things at that point. You could either A) Get your skis or board waxed as quickly as possible or B) Wait for the temperature and snow structure to change. Recently, though, there's been a third option, and that's Phantom Glide. By applying a one-time polymer to the bases of your skis, you can virtually eliminate the need to wax or wait ever again. Phantom Glide allows for consistent glide with minimal respect to snow temperature or structure, so you get endless sliding and considerably less sticking.
Here at SkiEssentials, we've quickly become the top seller and applier of Phantom Glide in the industry. With multiple application stations and years of experience, our technicians are able to quickly and efficiently apply and cure Phantom Glide to Alpine and Nordic skis as well as snowboards and split boards. Once the process is complete, that's it—it's done! The polymer permeates the base material and lives there forever, even if you get a stone grind. In fact, grinding the bases will leave a bit more of a fresh Phantom surface, furthering the glide.

For how technological the Phantom Glide seems, it's actually quite easy for us to apply. It's not so easy to explain the science, so we'll rely on the manufacturer's words here: Phantom Glide uses "microscopic short chain compounds to penetrate and diffuse into the unstructured sections of your ski or snowboard base." Since wax molecules are considerably bigger than those of Phantom compounds, they don't fill or permeate the whole base structure, giving Phantom Glide more permanence and longer-lasting performance. It's all about the hydrophobicity here, as that concept allows the skis and snowboards to avoid the dreaded suction-cup feeling that you can get once your wax wears off.

In addition to the performance benefits, Phantom Glide reduces the need for additional wax, and that can have a positive impact on the environment. Since Phantom Glide contains no PFAS or fluorocarbons, there is a benefit here from a green standpoint. While we'll be upfront in acknowledging that skiing, by and large, isn't terribly good for the environment, efforts like this help to make a difference along the way.
Here at SkiEssentials, we pride ourselves on offering fantastic products at a great value. If we didn't think this was a beneficial add-on from a consumer standpoint, we simply wouldn't do it. Since you get the invaluable blend of increased performance and permanent consistency in terms of glide, the added gain here is easy to see. We're happy to offer this service to you as we sincerely believe it adds to both the bottom line as well as the performance consistency over the life of the product.
