Available in sizes 145, 155, and 165, these skis are a pared-down and scaled-back version of the adult skis that are known for all-mountain freeride as well as their freestyle prowess. It’s pretty amazing what these tweener skis offer these days, and the Sir Francis Bacon Shorty skis are no exception. At 107-millimeters underfoot, these things are wide and surfy. The nearly full-rocker profile of the ski simply takes that flotation to the next level. When those two things are combined with the symmetric flex, these things are unstoppable in soft snow. Also, when you consider that they are in shorter lengths, it makes the dimensions relative to size really pop. I wish we had skis like this when I was a kid—it would have made those trips out west and skiing in powder for the first time a lot more palatable, for sure. But these days, the tweeners and kids get the best of the adult world just in a smaller size, and they should not take for granted how fun skiing in powder is.
