2024 BLACK CROWS VERTIS BIRDIE WOMEN'S SKIS
Returning for 2024, the Black Crows Vertis Birdie is an approachable resort ski thatis intuitive, responsive, and highly approachable. Probably the most approachable frontside oriented ski in the Black Crows collection, the Vertis Birdie is perfect for the intermediate female skier looking to improve their technique or for the advanced skier who is focused on cruising. An extremely well-rounded ski that uses a simple construction to produce a high-quality ski and high-quality performance. The Vertis Birdie is a brilliant example of a simply well conventionalized85 mm waisted all-mountain ski as there are not many skiers out there who would not enjoy its low-maintenance, fun-having nature.

The Vertis Birdie utilizes a relatively simple construction that achieves fantastic results both on trail and off trail. The wood core is made up of poplar, which supplies energy and responsiveness to your turns. Supporting this are two full fiberglass laminates, which are pressed onto the top and bottom of the wood core in order to strengthen the ski overall. Fiberglass laminates provide additional stability and torsional stiffness to improve carving performance and edge grip in firm snow conditions. The energy of the poplar core combined with the torsional and longitudinal rigidity of the fiberglass make for an impressive balance between forgiveness and performance. With this build comes a very lightweight ski that will not tire you out and will have you skiing from the first chair to the last. In the 170.3cm length, a pair of Vertis Birdie’s weigh 3250 grams. This is extremely light for a ski in this category which makes it great for skiers that want to have maximum control and maneuverability for the entire day on the slopes.

Just as the Vertis Birdie has a simple yet effective construction, the same goes for its all-mountain shape consisting of a rocker/camber/rocker profile. There is around 10% tip rocker, 85% camber, and 5% tail rocker which is typical of many mid-80mm waisted all-mountain skis. There is ample tip rocker to float in fresh snow without compromising effective edge length ,which is perfect for a ski in this category. Significant and pronounced camber underfoot supplies maximum edge grip throughout the turn and energy release at the end of the turn. The subtle tail rocker makes the Vertis Birdie have some playfulness to it while maintaining strong edge contact and strong release. At the 170.3cm length, the sidecut of the Vertis Birdie comes in at 127mm at the forebody, 85mm underfoot, and 109mm in the tail which generates a turn radius of 15 meters. A very effective shape and one that is complimentary to the construction as there is certainly some floatation capabilities from the tips with a frontside carving demeanor throughout the rest of the ski.
For female skiers looking for a well-rounded, intuitive, and versatile ski that has a simple yet effective construction and shape, the 2024 Black Crows Vertis Birdie would be a fantastic choice. High quality manufacturing and design result in a ski that skiers of all ability levels are able to enjoy in a variety of conditions and settings. Intermediate lady shredders would thoroughly enjoy the Vertis Birdie for its ease of maneuverability, smooth turn initiation, and edge to edge quickness. More advanced skiers would gravitate towards this ski as it is not very taxing on the legs and is great for cruising. Overall, the Vertis Birdie is the choice for many skiers and is far too often overlooked. A lot of ladies would benefit from having a ski like this as it is more realistic for their application than other, extremely stiff, dual metal laminate skis that are far too overpowered.
