2024 K2 MINDBENDER 89TI WOMEN'S SKI
Ladies who are looking for front side performance as well as all-mountain versatility will love the strong turning nature of this ski. For 2024, the K2 Mindbender 89Ti W gets a facelift, but remains the same awesome ski we fell in love with last year. Ever since moving to the current version, this ski has jumped off the page and the snow in terms of performance and power. This ski loves to turn, loves to be on edge, and has a surprising amount of versatility and flexibility when it comes to pure all-mountain skiing. By relying on a sophisticated build, a shorter turn radius, and a fun-loving character, the K2 Mindbender 89Ti W is an awesome option for advanced and expert skiers who are looking to rip turns on groomers, but not limit their day to only that. The Mindbender series has always been about having fun and putting your own mark on the mountain and with the 89Ti W, those marks are usually railroad tracks and clean carved turns.

The construction of the ski is the big culprit for its precision. While there are a lot of skis out there that have stiffer tails and rugged release points from the back end, the Mindbender 89Ti W has more power and precision up front, and that’s due in large part to the Titanal Y-Beam that’s employed here. With more metal extending to the edges in the front part of the ski, tapering to the middle in the back, this ski gets a ton of initiation power that brings you cleanly and firmly into the turn. for last year, they made the metal start a bit closer to the mid-point, and that caused the ski to become slightly more friendly and less chattery. All of this sits atop an aspen wood core that delivers a great mix of energy and light weight. While the metal takes up most of the ski, when combined with the thicker core underfoot and full sidewall build, it tips the scale at 1756 grams in the 164.

In that same 164, we’re getting a turn radius of 13.1-meters, and for an all-mountain ski, that’s on the short side. This ski loves to rip short carved turns at a variety of speeds, and it allows the skier to tighten it up easier and let it run thanks to the metal laminate. Since it’s not full-width or length, skiers can manipulate the flex of the ski in the turn to accommodate their desires. We’ve had an awesome time experimenting with this ski’s turn shapes and styles, and it’s one of the most rewarding skis out there when it comes to mixing it up on the fly. While the rocker profile isn’t the standout aspect of the ski, it is there, and aligns well with where the metal is not, giving this ski an impressive amount of playfulness and flotation for how crisp it is in a carved turn.
The move to the full sidewall, longer rocker, and shorter radius made a whole lot of sense for the K2 Mindbender 89Ti W. The fact that it’s carrying forward into 2024 is even better for skiers who spend a lot of their time on groomers making carved turns but also want something nimble enough to handle softer snow, bumps, and trees. This ski has it all, finding itself in a great shape and build that’s suitable for the vast majority of advanced and expert skiers out there. By blending a solid feel, an agile personality, and a precise character, this ski is a winner and should be treated as such.
