2024 Liberty Evolv 90 Women's Ski

2024 LIBERTY EVOLV 90 WOMEN'S SKI

$699

The 2024 Liberty Evolv 90W is a sleeper ski that should not be counted out. This thing rips. Built for ladies who are spending most of their time in an on-trail format, the Evolv 90W is a clean carver with some versatility built in. That said, it definitely falls more in favor of groomer skiing and carving, with an emphasis on smooth and strong front side performance. With a women’s-specific build and a carving-oriented shape, this ski is constructed to lean into aggressively carved turns and make some serious trenches on the way down. They make it light and easy to ski, but the shape still has some demand to it when it comes to being somewhat devoid of rocker or taper.

The core construction of this Evolv 90W is quite sophisticated. The silence sticks out more than anything else in this ski, as it blends paulownia, poplar, and bamboo wood in the construction. We get two wide sections of the sturdy poplar in the middle with two lighter areas of paulownia on the sides. In between these, we get three aluminum struts set vertically in between bamboo stringers. On top and bottom, we get two layers of fiberglass and two carbon strips that sit atop the poplar. When all of this is combined, the Evolv 90W has an uncompromising amount of structure and stability to it. In the 165, they manage to keep it pretty light at 1600 grams per ski. Since the metal is used in a vertical format rather than horizontal, it keeps the weight down while still providing a very similar type of performance.

From a shaping perspective, the Evolv 90W has a lot of frontside characteristics to it. They use a flatter and squarer tail with a low-profile shovel. While there’s some rocker in the tips and tails, there’s not much, leading to a longer effective edge. When combined with the silence of the metal and wood in the build, this makes for a very smooth ski from tip to tail. The radius is still on the short side at 15.5-meters in the 165, but it’s easy to manipulate into longer turns. When it comes to shorter turns, the tail is pretty stiff and square, so you do have to put in more effort to get the back end of the ski to break free. As such, the Evolv 90W is a lot happier on groomed terrain and firm snow as it gets the most out of the build and shape. With minimal taper, especially in the tail, the Evolv 90W prefers to keep it clean rather than become mired in the crud and chop of the ski hill.

Best when used by advanced and expert skiers who spend most of their time in an on-trail format, the 2024 Liberty Evolv 90W is an amazing ski that has near record silence. These things are about as smooth and quiet as any ski out there on the market today. The fact that they do it using technology and sophistication makes the success of this ski all the more impressive. Hopefully more skiers get out there on an Evolv 90W as it’s an overlooked ski that should be at the forefront of more frontside conversations.
