$629

For fans of fun-loving freeride, the 2024 Liberty Genesis 90 is here for your creative skiing needs. Ladies who split their time between all-mountain and freeride will love the construction, shape, and profile of these great skis. Liberty has always been known for their ability to make an awesome twin tip, and now they are incorporating all-mountain performance into the mix in order to create a versatile ski that checks a lot of boxes for a lot of skiers. While there’s a large range of skier that can and will enjoy these skis on a daily format, they’re definitely better suited on the feet of advanced and expert skiers. That said, the width and the weight do make the Genesis 90 more accessible for the middle range of skier who likes to take it a bit easier out there on the hill. With great graphics and a fun-loving build and shape, the 2024 Liberty Genesis 90 is one of the more unique and pleasant twin tips out there on the market today.

From a construction perspective, the Genesis 90 is quite sophisticated. They use a blend of poplar, paulownia, and bamboo to generate the energy in the ski, and then they sandwich a single vertical metal strut in the center rail of the ski. Metal, when placed vertically in this manner, dampens and quiets the ski to allow for proper vibration absorption and increased power. By mixing the woods, they are able to get the strength of the poplar, the silence of the bamboo, and the energy of the paulownia to create a highly lively ski. On top of the core, they also use two carbon strips to add to the stiffness and responsiveness. In the 158, this all adds up to a weight of 1585 grams per ski, which is on the light and maneuverable side for sure.

When it comes to the shape and profile, the freeride nature of the Genesis 90 is brought to life. Since the overall shaping of the ski falls on the round side of the spectrum, that’s kind of how the turns end up looking as well. The 158 produces a 13-meter turn radius, which is on the short side, allowing the skier to be energetic and creative when it comes to putting down clean carves on the corduroy and beyond. At 90 mm underfoot, the ski is highly versatile and useful, making quick work of the groomers while remaining floaty enough for softer snow, trees, bumps, and powder. At the same time, the ski retains enough torsional stiffness to be a strong carver on firmer stuff without losing too much stability. The rocker is smooth, low, and long, creating a floaty and drifty overall character. Underfoot, the camber lines up with the thicker sidewall profile to create strong grip and good carving power. Overall, the ski’s shape is very useful and versatile.

We’ve been big fans of the Genesis series of skis for quite some time, and the 2024 Genesis 90 seems to be a strong performer that’s incredibly useful, especially for skiers like us here in Vermont where we get some snow a lot of the time while it remains firm and cold most others. The skis are playful, surfy, smeary, and silent, bringing an unorthodox amount of power and grip to a freeride ski that would normally be seen as a bit too flexible.
