2024 Rossignol Rallybird 92 Women's Skis

2024 ROSSIGNOL RALLYBIRD 92 WOMEN'S SKIS

$649.95

Built with fun and energy in mind, the Rossignol Rallybird 92 is a shining example of a narrow freeride ski done right. As the narrowest of the Rallybird skis, the 2024 version returns unchanged, allowing a new generation of lady skiers the opportunity to rip short and mid-radius turns all over the mountain. Rossignol has done a great job in the past by creating fun and engaging skis, and that certainly continues into this next year. While the ski is found at or near the top end of Rossignol’s performance spectrum, the Rallybird 92 is still a relatively accessible ski for progressing intermediates mainly due to its light weight and shorter turn ability. The versatility is off the charts as well—allowing skiers to use this as a one and only ski for a variety of conditions and terrain.

Paulownia is an interesting wood. We see it mainly used in skis that are supposed to be light—touring skis come to mind most often for this application. At the same time, we have the tendency to miscalculate how stiff and energetic this wood is—hand flexing the Rallybird 92 is pretty interesting because there’s a good deal of strength to it. In addition to the wood, Rossignol uses their Diagofiber to further produce performance. The interlacing of diagonally opposed fibers increases the torsional stiffness of the ski in order to get excellent responsiveness on firmer snow. We also get Rossignol’s Air Tip to reduce swing weight and vibrations. This also helps with flotation, since lighter things simply float better. In the 162, the ski produces a weight of 1600 grams, which is on the light side for sure.

A lot of the other energy in the ski comes from the camber, which is ample. There’s a lot of positivity built in to these skis through the camber as it provides a lot of pop in and out of the turns. The 162 has a 92 mm waist and produces a relatively short 14-meter turn radius. While rocker is a part of the story when it comes to soft snow performance, it’s more dramatic in the tip than the tail. The tail is relatively square, and while there’s a bit of rocker to it, the overall splay falls more into the directional side of the spectrum. There’s more taper in the shovel, with a spoonier shape that floats well and maneuvers through the crud and chop. Overall, this is a very well-rounded shape for a variety of snow conditions and terrain.

From steeps and trees to bumps and groomers, the 2024 Rossignol Rallybird 92 has a whole lot to offer a wide range of skiers. The light weight, short radius, and positive energy through the camber makes this ski operate at a high level of performance while also remaining accessible and comfortable for skiers in the mid-range of the intermediate realm. Lighter experts looking for that narrower freeride ski will also find a lot to like here. In fact, the list of skiers who would benefit from this ski is a whole lot longer than those who may not get along with it.
