2024 Rossignol Sender 106 Ti Plus Skis

2024 ROSSIGNOL SENDER 106 TI PLUS SKIS

$899.95

In the world of wider-bodied all-mountain and freeride skis, the 2024 Rossignol Sender 106 Ti Plus is an absolute blast. This thing is a treat to ski. It has a very traditional feel to it due to the blend of build, shape, and profile, allowing advanced and expert skiers the ability to bomb down steep trails, wide-open bowls, and big mountain zones with relative ease. That said, it’s a pretty burly ski, so there does need to be some skills and/or size involved on the skier’s side of the spectrum. For aggressive skiing, fall line-oriented skiers, and high-speed enthusiasts, this ski is a total rocket ship. Rossignol is able to put in a lot of different technologies that add up to this being an excellent ski that blurs the line between all-mountain and freeride. While it certainly has the width to be considered a freeride option, the build and footprint fall more to the all-mountain side of the spectrum.

While the other Sender skis get the lighter paulownia wood core, the Sender 106 Ti Plus gets the stiffer poplar wood to boost the performance. One of the cool things about this ski is that it’s only offered in 180, 187, and 194 cm lengths, so if you’re in the market for a ski that’s below a 180, this is not the ski for you. Rossignol takes some strong measures to ensure smoothness and stability in this ski. The Double LCT keeps the ski from counter flexing—this helps keep the intended course with minimal vibrations. We also get Damp Tech rubber inserts in the tips to keep it quiet, and the Ti Plus Beam extends the metal in the ski to make the ski strong and stable even at the highest speeds. We’re also getting Carbon Alloy Matrix, which stiffens the ski both torsionally and longitudinally. By cross-hatching carbon and basalt stringers through the ski, the power is increased without much weight. That said, it’s kind of a hefty ski, tipping the scale at 2200 grams in the 187. That weight, though, certainly leads to stability and power.

At 106 mm wide in the 187, the ski has a pretty long turn radius at 21-meters. This makes the ski very comfortable at speed, and when you get it into softer snow and more rugged terrain, it really starts to eat it up. Most of that is thanks to the flatter and more squared-off tail that cuts a clean line through crud and chop. Whereas more of a twin tip will bounce along, skis like this with flatter tails just keep going strong and straight. For aggressive freeride skiers, this is often seen as an advantage. The shovel has some decent rocker and taper to it, making it an ideal choice for those who spend most of their time in softer snow. It’s a good floater but isn’t as playful as some other 106’s out there, especially the more twin-tipped ones.

This ski is best suited to the more aggressive skiers on the hill. It’s pretty demanding, from both a weight and a shape perspective. It’s not that turny, so if you’re expecting the ski to do most of the work, you’re likely going to be out of luck. That said, for those looking to rip down huge mountain faces and hit high speeds in any and all snow conditions, this one is about as smooth and confident as it gets.
