DESCRIPTION

Returning for 2026 with an upgraded construction, the Black Pearl 84 with Marker Squire 11 Bindings takes the proven performance of the Black Pearl series to new levels. Blizzard combines wood, carbon, and Titanal to create a perfectly balanced flex that provides power and stability where needed, while also offering versatility and playfulness. As the narrowest model in the Black Pearl lineup, the 84 excels on piste, though thanks to its tapered tip and tail, all-condition rocker profile, and added camber underfoot, it remains capable across a variety of conditions. We paired the 84 Pearl with the Marker Squire 11 because of the Squire’s high performance and dependability for lighter weight all mountain and freeride skiers. With a light weight construction and a safe, reliable release, the Squire 11 is a go to choice to keep performance high and weight low.

Why we like it:

Building on the success of its predecessor, the Black Pearl 84 gets some thoughtful updates that make it a versatile and appealing option for skiers of varying abilities.

Who it's for:

The Black Pearl 84 is ideal for intermediate skiers looking to advance their skills. It also suits advanced skiers who prefer a more relaxed pace, offering an easy and intuitive skiing experience.

Highlights:

The Black Pearl 84 stands out for its intuitive and user-friendly nature. It is a particularly friendly ski, making it an excellent choice for intermediates who need a ski that can grow with them as they improve their skills. While many intermediate skis can lack power, the 84 maintains strength and stability even as more advanced skiers push its limits. This is achieved through Blizzard’s Trueblend wood core, which integrates both stiff and soft flexing woods to create a tailored flex pattern that enhances performance and adds an intuitive feel. Marker’s Triple Pivot Light 2 Toe and Hollow Linkage Heel systems work in tandem to provide powerful energy transmission to the ski, allowing for maximum edge grip and control of the ski. Lighter weight skiers can rest easy knowing the Squire 11 will be easier than ever to step into thanks to a re-designed heel piece. Perhaps the most underappreciated feature of the Squire 11 is the anti-ice rail, which sits on top of the toepiece and can be used to scrape the sole of your boots clean before stepping in.

Things to consider:

While the Black Pearl 84 is a strong choice for many, those seeking a true frontside carving ski will want to look elsewhere, as the 84 leans more towards the freeride end of the on-trail spectrum. Additionally, skiers looking for a wider ski to handle off-trail and soft snow conditions might find other, wider options more suitable.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Black Pearl 84 skis true to size.

Thoughts
All mountain with a focus on frontside, if you’re looking for more soft snow performance go with one of the wider versions. These felt quick and agile through the corn bumps that are starting to form, so don’t be afraid to take them off the groomed terrain.
Nothing, I really like what they’ve done with the Pearl lineup.
Overal Impression
Ahh, after a morning of skiing frontside skis this was like putting on a pair of comfy pants! The Pearl is a super popular ski for good reason, it has a huge sweet spot and will appeal to a broad range of skier types. It’s stable, smooth, and balances maneuverability as well for a really nice combo of attributes. Short turns, long turns, this ski will happily do it all.
