Freeriders everywhere will love the energetic and responsive feel of the Sheeva 9 from Blizzard. At 96 underfoot, this capable ski is wide enough to float in soft snow and blast through crud, but not so wide that your knees hate you after a few groomer laps. With a metal frame extending out to the tip and tail, the Sheeva 9 has the power and torsional stiffness to grip on firm snow without chattering at high speeds. A generous amount of rocker in the tips and tails offers impressive maneuverability in deeper snow, while camber underfoot gives a playful and poppy feel.
Why we like it:
The Sheeva 9 is a staff favorite around here, as it sits squarely in the Goldilocks zone where power, precision, and playfulness intersect.
Who it's for:
Skiers looking for a freeride focused all-mountain ski will find a lot to love about the Sheeva 9. Advanced intermediates on up to expert level ladies will be most able to access the full performance of this creative, energetic ski.
Highlights:
Time and time again we’re blown away with how responsive, powerful, and playful the Sheeva 9 is. So how do they do it? Blizzard uses their Trueblend Free wood core, a blend of Poplar, Beech, and Paulownia woods, to achieve a very specific flex pattern though the length of the ski, giving it stiffness underfoot and a softer flex in the tip and tail. The addition of a metal frame that runs along the outer edge of the ski, called Fluxform, adds support and dampness, as well as that energetic pop that we love.
Things to consider:
If you find that you’re a more directional skier who prioritizes maximum edge grip and carving performance, there are better options out there that will deliver those characteristics and still have some all-mountain capabilities. More creative, freeride oreiented skiers tend to gravitate toward a ski like the Sheeva, so if that’s not you, look elsewhere.
Fit & sizing considerations:
The Sheeva 9 turns on a dime in soft snow, so if you’re someone who plans to use these out West in wide open bowls, you could definitely size up here. Those out East who prioritize making short, quick turns through our tight Eastern trees will love the responsiveness of the Sheeva 9 and should ski their usual length.
