DESCRIPTION

The Elan Ripstick 102 with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings is a highly versatile all-mountain freeride ski designed for both on-trail and off-trail adventures. Evolving from the Ripstick 106, the 102 features a wide, spoon-shaped shovel that excels in floating over soft snow. While its supple flex slightly impacts carving performance, it significantly enhances soft snow capabilities and overall fun. We paired the 102 with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.

Why we like it:

The Ripstick 102 stands out for its unparalleled intuitive feel and ease of use, making it an exceptional choice for a wide range of skier types and abilities.

Who it's for:

Intermediate to expert skiers will find the Ripstick 102 to be a versatile option for exploring the mountain, especially in soft snow conditions.

Highlights:

The Ripstick 102’s Amphibio Rocker profile ensures smooth transitions from edge to edge, while the Tubelite Woodcore, Carbon Rods, and UD Fiber laminates keep the ski impressively lightweight. This combination of materials boosts stability while maintaining responsiveness, requiring less skier input and allowing you to stay fresh and energetic throughout long days on the slopes. The Attack 14 GW’s FR PRO3 Toe contains 30 mm of elastic travel which provides a smooth and confidence inspiring feel when tracking though variable snow while also recentering the boot to its neutral position extremely well to keep you locked in, acting almost like a suspension system. NX FR Heel pieces have 16 mm of elastic travel which assists in prevent false-releases. These heel pieces also make stepping into and out of bindings with ease, even in deep snow.

Things to consider:

Heavier and more aggressive skiers might find the Ripstick 102 a bit too supple in longitudinal flex. Although the ski offers good torsional stiffness, there are more powerful carvers available in this category for performance on extremely firm snow.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Ripstick 102 skis true to size. More aggressive and heavier skiers might want to consider sizing up or opting for the Ripstick 102 Black Edition for a sturdier alternative.

Nothing, awesome ski.

Fantastic ski. Great edge hold. Was able to float on heavy corn snow. Great all around, very nimble, felt like an 88 under foot. Just buy this ski.
