2024 Kastle FX86 TI Skis

2024 KASTLE FX86 TI SKIS

For a wide variety of all-mountain applications, the 2024 Kastle FX 86 Ti is one of the smoothest skis on the planet. This thing rips, and since it came out a few years ago, it’s been a skier favorite for those who love a shorter turning, slightly narrower all-mountain ski that just oozes versatility. It’s light, quick, agile, and poppy. The combination of a shorter radius and a precise build makes this ski easy to turn and accessible for a huge range of skiers and skier types. Those that are looking for one ski for most resort days will find a lot to like about the FX 86 Ti. This ski returns unchanged from last year, and that’s great news for skiers who are in the market for a high-quality all-mountain ski that has some freeride notes built right into it. Thanks to the blend of construction, shape, and profile, this FX 86 Ti is truly a unique ski that affords skiers an amazing set of performance applications.

Kastle does a great job with their construction, focusing on a few different things. Firstly, they use a mix of wood stringers to create a particular effect. In the center portion, Kastle amasses a mix of poplar and beech stringers to give the central chord of the ski more power and stability. To keep things lighter and more energetic on the sides, they implement poplar and paulownia stringers. This blend is sophisticated and unique, allowing skiers to harness the stoutness and damping properties of beech while keeping the energy and pop on the high side on the edges. Additionally, we get two sheets of metal and two fiberglass layers to boost the performance, making this FX 86 Ti an excellent high-performance ski for advanced skiers. To maintain a smooth and stable ride, Kastle employs their Hollowtech in the tips. By removing mass, they’re reducing vibrations and increasing flotation. In the 177, we’re seeing a pretty light weight of 1725 grams per ski, so this thing is about as agile as it gets.

The agility is amplified by the shape, with the ski producing a turn radius of 15.7-meters. If you wish to adhere to this shape, the ski doesn’t love to be used in higher speeds and in longer turns. If you stick to the cut and employ shorter turns, the ski is very happy. This type of character makes it especially amazing in bumps and trees when it comes to all-mountain performance. At 86 mm underfoot, the ski is an amazing option for pure all-mountain use, allowing for both short and quick turns as well as more skidded arcs when the terrain gets strange. This ski is all about managing different terrain and snow conditions, and when the shape lines up with the lighter shovel and slight rocker, it brings the poise and versatility right to the forefront of the discussion.

Ever since this ski’s inception, we’ve been impressed with its ability to handle multiple qualities at the same time. Our testers have raved about its mogul and tree acumen for years, The on-trail edge grip and turning ability is off the charts, and the fun-factor of these skis is quite immeasurable. Thanks to Kastle’s commitment to quality and precision, we’re getting a strong and stable ski that also has a lighter weight. This blend of attributes is part of the price tag, and while they do cost a bit more, you will get the resulting performance.
