DESCRIPTION
The Rossignol Arcade 88 brings all-mountain versatility in the sense that they intended to be for snow that you find, not the snow you expect to find. Whether it be charging groomers and generating high edge angles or wiggling through your favorite glades, the Arcade 88 is the weapon of choice. Featuring a burly construction paired with a versatile shape, it is a combination that is impossible to replicate.

Highlights:
A full poplar wood core with an ABS LCT (Line Control technology) strip that vertically runs the length of the ski to bolster longitudinal stiffness. Full length and width titanal laminates boost torsional stiffness for edge grip and dampen vibrations collectively work together for maximum carving performance. Rectangular Sidewalls running the full length of the ski bolster longitudinal stiffness and directly transfer power to the ski's edges.
Things to consider:
The Arcade 88 is a Groomers oriented resort ski that has some off Groomers capabilities. So, if you plan on spending half or the majority of your time off-Groomers, there are better options out there with more float and maneuverability.

Nosedive - hard pack in the turns, couple of inches on ice in the trees, then back out on the trail for some really nice carving and a few turns in the hard bumps just for science.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
The ski is meant to make nice ski instructor turns. Start the turn at the top, and it really wants you to finish your turn with the ski going fully across the fall line before the tails will unhook. If I'm looking to try and make pretty medium sized turns with consistency, these skis are great for that. I really liked the middle/lower part of nosedive. I didn't quite have the rhythm for the icy nosedive turns, but I bet I could get them to edge very nicely into those. Very stable when on edge.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
This is a groomer/hard pack/front side ski meant to do one thing extremely well: medium sized turns that look very pretty and feel dynamic. If you're looking to shred corduroy and want to look good while doing it popping from one identical turn to another, you're going to have a good time. Don't take this into the bumps or the trees. The tails don't want to release, so they're very difficult to make quick corrections while on edge.

I don't think beginners or intermediates will understand this ski. This is for advanced and expert skiers who have the leg strength and confidence to load the ski in the middle of their turn to get it to pop them into the next turn.

The ski is very dynamic once you get the rhythm. I was worried I had forgotten how to ski when I took it into Nosedive woods when I couldn't get the tails to skid the turns... but when I got back on the groomed trail, I was caught off guard with how easy they were to carve as long as you were central on the ski or slightly forward.

Not as easy of a ski but should be high on a list for the advanced skier who is looking for making snappy turns. For fresh powder a bit more width might be a consideration. Very playful for the advanced skier looking to attack the next turn!

I skied this on piste at Stowe Mountain Resort on a combination of Perry Merrill, Gondolier, and some woods in between. The snow was machine groomed frozen granular and firm hardback with a half inch of fresh snow on top.

This ski felt a little bit too long, but I'm not sure I'd size down to the 178.

This ski is a good contender with the ever battled-for "88 width all mt ski". I liked this a lot personally and it felt like a more forgiving Stormrider 88 or Mantra 88. I think I would strongly consider this ski vs both of those.

This ski is an all mountain 88 width ski. It's really meant for everything, but I did find it pretty at home on firmer snow.

This ski is for more advanced skiers than its sibling the Arcade 84. IT has a full sheet of metal which advanced skiers will crave vs the 84.

I liked this ski a whole lot when I wasn't expecting to. I'm not sure why but the "Arcade" name turns me off a bit. That said it really is a fun all around ski that I can see many people thinking of a Mantra 88 or Stormrider 88 preferring due to this ski's more playful characteristics.

I loved this ski when I got on it and I was instantly impressed with its ability to hold an edge on piste, but also stay on top of some fresh snow. That 88mm width really is a do everything ski, and this ski excels at everything with an eye at making sure you have fun on the pisted snow.
Appropriate Terrain
This ski is good all over the mountain. The 88mm width is not too wide to carve piste, but it also keeps you on top of powder up to about 6-8". For deeper snow though this might not be the right ski.
Appropriate Skier
This ski is for intermediate or advanced skiers. It is not too hard to control, so someone can grow into this ski. It also is something an advanced skier would enjoy, but if that advanced skier is looking for more piste performance, they might consider the Rossignol Forza 70 instead of this since that ski is a true high performance carver that can also stay on top of some fresh snow.
Other Thoughts
I would make it every so slightly stiffer in the tip to enable some faster carving. I overpowered the ski a bit on piste since the tip is soft. But I think that is what Rossignol wants so this is a bit more accessible.

I'd say I'm an advanced-ish skier with a racing background but been skiing quite conservatively over the last few years. Slowly getting back into a more aggressive riding style -- trying to hit bigger lines and hit them smooth, going outside of my comfort zone but not beyond my limits!

This ski feels like it was designed for fun. It’s lightning fast edge to edge and has the perfect balance of spring to dampening. It comes alive at mid speed and maintains stability when pushed to high speeds. It handles well taking it easy and responds in delightful ways when driving in the front of the boot. It’s forgiving when you want it, and returns all the power it’s given when pushed. Overall a versatile trail ski with enough pop for sweet airplane turns.

I know this ski is amazing on smooth mid to steep pitched terrain. I imagine it would be lacking in soft sidecountry and bumps.

These skis were an absolute blast to ski! While an "all-mountain" ski and having more width than a pure carving ski, they were like carvers in disguise but with enough width and stability to power through crud. They engaged early and predictably and returned a ton of energy at the finish of the turn, happily and easily going right into the next one. They were the most fun in hard, short turns or carving turns, whether the snow was softer or very "firm" (read as ice), on which they held an edge amazingly well. They definitely had a top end speed limit before starting to feel a bit unstable, and they let you know what kind of snow you were on (you could tell by the change in sound in the turns, even when they held just as well through all of them). They are a very fun, front side focused, carving ski that has a bit more versatility than a pure slalom or race ski, but I wouldn't make a steady diet of bumps or trees on them - but in just about everything else you see in New England these would be a very fun, energetic (if demanding in that like to be skied more like a race ski) pair of skis to own.

Groomers/on-piste is where they shine, as they love to turn and are excellent at holding an edge

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
It had been a while since I last skied the Arcade 88 and getting on a pair for a full day at Deer Valley was a blast. These skis absolutely rip, but you have to put the work in. I personally prefer skiing the 94 as the tips and tails are a little softer, which for me helps with turn initiation, but if you have the skiing chops and can really drive a turn, the Arcade 88 is no joke. It's quite possibly the best carving 88-90 mm all-mountain ski, which is saying a lot as that category is stacked with great skis. The way these things just rocket across the fall line is really, really fun. I appreciate the shorter turn radius as for me it helps with speed control while linking turns, but some skiers might find that shorter radius somewhat demanding as the ski just wants to turn and turn and turn and turn.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
I really like keeping it on groomers personally. It has the width to handle some variable conditions and off-piste terrain, but it's not particularly easy going when you ask it to do those things. For me, it's a groomer ripper all day.

I do think the stiffness and overall demanding nature of the Arcade 88 does place it almost in the expert only range, but most advanced skiers will be find on it too. Intermediates would be better off on the Arcade 84, which is still a fantastic ski, but the softer tips and tails make it easier to manipulate and control.

I found this ski more versatile and playful than the rep explained it would be. Significant change from the recent Experience 88s and more akin to the OG Experience 88s from a decade ago, which is a good thing! 2 sheets of metal means a burly ski that can hold an edge, but still a little playful to venture into some easy bumps or skid some turns.

They felt HEAVY, definitely felt like a lot of ski in the 186 length and were tiring getting around between lifts.

These are groomer skis for sure. The 88mm waist width does give them a little more ability to ski things other than groomers, but groomers will definitely be the most fun on this ski.

With how heavy and powerful this ski is I would only recommend it to advanced and expert skiers. This ski can be a lot to handle if you don't stay on top of it.

This ski felt very sharp and as the sun came out and the snow got aggressive it was a lot. I’d want it a little less sharp. Once into some colder north facing snow it was much better.
Appropriate Terrain
All mountain every day. Very strong carver that doesn’t balk at skiing bumps and trees.

Anyone that thinks skiing is serious business.

I’d just dull it a bit. I could see a touch more tip rocker helping out.

Very much enjoyed the Arcade 88! Wicked turny, super predictable, and incredible carver. The torsional stiffness and edge grip was insane. I felt like I could generate edge angles that I never could have before. Another characteristic that I was surprise with was how smooth and damp they were, it felt like I was on rails with no bumps in the road.
Appropriate Terrain
On-piste carving and some off trail exploring. The dampness and energy made it a great carver while its shape makes it not crazy locked in at all times.
Appropriate Skier
Intermediate to expert. Its approachable enough for intermediates and powerful enough for expert skiers.

Nothing I would change, loved this ski!

This Arcade 88 is a smooth and powerful ski that loves to be in a carved turn. It felt very confident at any type of edge angle, but especially at home in shorter to medium-radius carves.
Appropriate Terrain
This is one of the more groomer-oriented 88's out there. While it has some all-mountain notes to it, the Arcade 88 feels a lot better on-piste rather than off.
Appropriate Skier
This ski is pretty heavy and stiff--I don't think there are many sub-advanced skiers out there who would really enjoy or get the most out of this ski.
Other Thoughts
I'd like to see a bit more taper and rocker to enhance the billed all-mountain character.

My first time on these was right after I had tested the arcade 84 so right off the bat I could feel how much heavier they were compared to the 84. After a little bit of adjustment I started to have a great time with these and had a hard time finding the speed limit on them. One big thing I noticed is that they really hook into the turn and once you engage the tip, hold on. I still think I prefer the 84, but I wouldn't complain if I had both.
Appropriate Terrain
This is the ski you want if you plan on skiing later in the day but still want to carve it up. The heavier build and tip shape punch through almost everything.
Appropriate Skier
This is a ski for advanced and expert skiers and I would hesitate to put and intermediate on it. With how hard this ski wants to turn its easy for you to lose control if you don't get forward enough.
