The stiffer S/Pro Alpha 110 is a great boot for lower-volume feet and strong skiers who spend a lot of time mixing on-trail performance with off-piste versatility.

Why we like it:

We love the top-shelf performance and rigidity to go along with the narrow last. At 98 mm in the forefoot and with a snug instep, this shell's plastic is close to the foot, delivering prime precision with every turn. Salomon does a great job by making a polished product, and this one is of high quality and full functionality.

Who it's for:

This boot is best for advanced and expert skiers who are relatively aggressive. You like the feeling of instant power transfer and lighter weight agility. You also need the ability to easily customize the boot's fit, and the shell and liner are eager to help in this department.

Highlights:

With a classic four-buckle overlap design, one of the highlights is the simplicity. Bringing it into a more modern timeline, we do get that custom shell with a custom fit 4d performance liner for comfort and convenience. With two liner loops to help get the boots on, as well as a 45 mm power strap, the features of this boot make it stand out in a competitive field.

Things to consider:

It’s stiff and narrow, so if you’re looking for a more amenable boot in performance and comfort, the Supra line from Salomon is a better bet.

Fit & sizing considerations:

You can stretch the shell quite a bit, so if it’s only a matter of a millimeter here or there, it’s okay to go Alpha instead of Supra, but if your whole foot is of higher volume, these can be on the tight side. With a range from 22.5 to 27.5, skiers get good choices in the sizing department.
