Revised for 2025, the Blaze 104 with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings comes with subtle updates that enhance this ski’s already impressive uphill efficiency and downhill performance. The 104 is now slightly stiffer, offering improved carving performance compared to previous models. Although originally marketed as a touring ski, the Blaze 104 has proven its value in resort settings, with many users opting for hybrid or alpine bindings for everyday soft snow use. Its lightweight construction and versatile shape have made it a favorite among all-mountain and backcountry enthusiasts. We paired the 104 with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.
Why we like it:
The Blaze 104 stands out for its all-mountain freeride versatility. Its light weight makes it exceptionally maneuverable, perfect for both touring and side-country adventures.
Who it's for:
Intermediate to expert freeriders seeking a quick and agile ski for all-mountain and soft snow exploration will appreciate the Blaze 104’s performance.
Highlights:
A major upgrade to the Blaze 104 is Volkl’s 4 Radius Drive, which offers four different turn radii depending on where the ski is weighted. The ski features specific sidecuts in the tips, two underfoot zones, and one in the tail. The Multilayer Green Wood Core uses recycled plastic to keep weight low. Suspension Tips and Tails use a rubber composite to reduce vibrations, while the updated Titanal Binding Platform provides full-width support underfoot, enhancing carving and edge grip on firm snow. The Attack 14 GW’s FR PRO3 Toe contains 30 mm of elastic travel which provides a smooth and confidence inspiring feel when tracking though variable snow while also recentering the boot to its neutral position extremely well to keep you locked in, acting almost like a suspension system. NX FR Heel pieces have 16 mm of elastic travel which assists in prevent false-releases. These heel pieces also make stepping into and out of bindings with ease, even in deep snow.
Things to consider:
While the Blaze 104 is lightweight and agile with ample tip and tail rocker, it doesn’t contain a full sheet of Titanal, which does limit its carving performance compared to other skis with full-length metal layers. Nonetheless, its design excels in agility and maneuverability, especially in softer snow.
Fit & sizing considerations:
The Blaze 104 skis true to size.
