2025 Volkl Peregrine Junior Skiswith Comp J Boots and Poles

Learning to carve gets simpler on the Volkl Peregrine Jr, a junior groomer ski shaped around how little a child actually weighs. A soft synthetic core and durable cap construction keep it light and forgiving, and tip rocker with camber underfoot means turns start easily while the ski still tracks predictably. Kids working through their first seasons get a stable, easy-turning platform that builds real technique. We selected to pair the Peregrine with the Rossignol Comp J Boy’s ski boots because of its comfort and reliable support that it provides for early skiing experiences. Its soft flex, easy-to-use buckle system, and cozy liner, make these boots the perfect match for these skis and beginner skiers who need a reliable and user-friend boot.

Who it's for:

Children learning to carve on groomed runs, typically in their first few seasons. The forgiving flex and predictable shape suit young skiers building technique rather than chasing terrain.

Things to consider:

It's a groomer ski through and through, so soft snow and off-trail detours fall outside what it does well. The soft core also limits how much speed it can absorb before starting to feel nervous.

Fit & sizing considerations:

For a carving-focused junior ski, a length around chin height gives enough edge to hold a turn without becoming unwieldy. A child who is tentative should size down, since confidence on a short ski produces better technique than caution on a long one.
