DESCRIPTION

The Fischer Ranger 116 is the big-mountain, deep-day flagship of the Ranger line, purpose-built for freeriders chasing clean lines, deep landings, and effortless float. Designed with input from athletes and engineers alike, it’s a modern powder ski that combines directional power with freeride agility.

Why we like it:

For a 116 mm-waisted ski, it feels remarkably quick underfoot, and that balance between float and finesse makes it an outstanding tool in storm conditions or off-piste missions.

Who it's for:

Expert skiers who prioritize deep snow performance, cliff stomping, and playful control in big terrain. If your days start with avy reports and end with face shots, this one belongs in your quiver.

Highlights:

A beech/poplar wood core is paired with a shaped Titanal insert for stability without unnecessary weight. The ski’s Freeski Rocker profile and Flex Cut geometry create a ride that’s both surfy and composed, with easy turn initiation yet enough backbone to stay composed at speed. With a long turning radius and wide waist, the Ranger 116 is built for big lines and soft landings.

Things to consider:

This is not your daily driver unless you live where storms stack up consistently. On firm days or in tighter trees, the width and heft may feel like overkill.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Ranger 116 skis fairly true to length. Skiers prioritizing maneuverability can size down, but those charging wide-open alpine terrain will want to stick with their usual powder ski size, or even size up for max float and composure.

Q&A

Ask a question and our experts will answer.

It has a nice blend of feeling stable and quiet at speed, but not too demanding or too locked in. There's plenty of rocker so breaking free from a turn and slashing, smearing, etc is pretty easy. Not the lightest in the world, so it can get a bit fatiguing, especially for my size in the 187, but it's not hard to ski either. Very well rounded powder ski.Definitely best in soft snow and ideal if it's pretty deep. That said, it can handle wind-scoured, chopped up late day snow, and just about anything else you'd find off-piste. Not the best on a groomer, however, so don't have all-mountain expectations out of it. It's a powder ski at first and a big mountain charger second.

Size Impression
For a ski like this, it skis true to size. Slightly shorter would be nice for me.

It's sweet and fills a nice role in the powder ski world, I wouldn't change it.
