DESCRIPTION

The 2026 Line Optic 96 brings back the same winning formula with a new look and the same energetic personality. At 96 mm underfoot, this all-mountain twin strikes a near-perfect balance between playful freeride feel and strong on-trail performance. Smooth, agile, and just the right amount of powerful, the Optic 96 handles everything from groomers to glades without blinking.

Why we like it:

It’s incredibly intuitive—agile when you want to get creative, stable when you want to push, and always ready to have fun.

Who it's for:

Best suited for aggressive advanced to expert skiers who want one ski that can carve, float, and pivot through anything on the mountain. Ideal for east coast all-mountain skiers or western skiers who want a quicker, more responsive platform.

Highlights:

Line builds this ski around an aspen veneer core, offering a smooth, damp ride with plenty of pop. The Gas Pedal Metal Overdrive laminate adds a wide, spine-like sheet of metal underfoot, branching out for added torsional stiffness and carving power to the locations where it is needed most. It’s a freeride-oriented design borrowed from the Blade, tuned for versatility and maneuverability. The profile features ample rocker and taper in the tips and tails, while the core thins toward the extremities for low swing weight. At 1880 grams per ski (177 cm), it’s not ultralight, but the balance is excellent. The 18-meter turn radius hits the sweet spot—snappy when needed, stable when opened up. Whether railing corduroy or bouncing through tree lines, the Optic 96 always feels lively and composed.

Things to consider:

It’s a well-rounded ski, but not a dedicated charger. Skiers seeking top-end power or maximum dampness at speed might want something with a bit more heft or a more directional shape.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis true to size. Most skiers should go with their standard length for best all-around performance. Those favoring maneuverability in tight spaces could consider sizing down slightly.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
This ski felt amazing from the first step in to some amateur aerials.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
Amazing for spring skiing, felt like it would perform well in the backcountry based on the playfulness, maybe slightly less perfect for ice firm days, but wasn’t able to test the most firm.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
Advanced, these feel best enjoyed by someone who’s really looking to play. A beginner or intermediate may not fully enjoy the slarfiness of this ski.
If you could change anything about these skis, what would you change and why?
I think for a playful/off piste ski it would do the job and be just super fun to rip around on a powder day.
