DESCRIPTION

The 2027 Blizzard Canvas 118 is the widest ski in the new Canvas freeride collection, a 118-mm-waisted powder tool with a metal-free, lightweight build and topsheet artwork by Japanese-Australian artist Penelope Misa. It's a dedicated soft-snow ski with personality to spare.

Why we like it:

What's striking about the Canvas 118 is how playful it stays despite the size. The metal-free construction keeps swing weight down, which means even at 118-mm underfoot the ski feels like something you can pivot, slash, and surf rather than a heavy boat that wants only to go straight.

Who it's for:

Advanced and expert skiers who ski a lot of powder and want a dedicated soft-snow ski with creative, freestyle-influenced character. Ideal for storm-day specialists, big-mountain skiers in deep-snow regions, and skiers who want a powder ski that surfs and slashes rather than just plows.

Highlights:

The construction here is Blizzard's Light Sandwich Full Sidewall, which keeps power transfer along the ski's length consistent without piling on weight. The core is full poplar and paulownia, a metal-free combination that delivers a lighter, more reactive feel than a traditional freeride layup with titanal. The shape is built specifically for soft snow, with a rockered tip and tail, camber underfoot, and a wide tip and tail for surface area where it counts. The result is a ski that floats easily, pivots quickly in tight powder lines, and holds up to slashes and side-hits without feeling out of its element.

Things to consider:

This is a dedicated powder tool. Without metal in the layup, the Canvas 118 trades high-speed damping and hard-snow stability for the playful, lighter feel. Hard chargers on chopped-up snow or skiers shopping for a daily driver should look at the Anomaly 102.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis a touch shorter than stated length thanks to the rocker profile. Most skiers can size up if they want extra flotation in deeper snow.
