DESCRIPTION

The Dynastar M-Free 100 is a freeride twin built around Dynastar's poplar and PU Hybrid Core 2.0, sitting in the sweet spot of the M-Free lineup at a hundred underfoot. A progressive rocker profile, full sidewall construction, and a metal-free layup come together for a ski that's playful enough to slash and pivot in soft snow but composed enough to drive a clean turn when conditions firm up. The result is a daily-driver freeride ski that doesn't punish you for skiing centered.

Why we like it:

The Hybrid Core 2.0 is one of the more interesting things happening in ski construction right now. Combining poplar and polyurethane in a tri-directional layup lets Dynastar skip a lot of the fiberglass and titanal that usually get added for stiffness, which keeps the M-Free 100 light and responsive without going noodle-soft.

Who it's for:

Advanced and expert skiers who want a one-ski quiver with freestyle leanings. The directional-but-rockered shape and centered mount point work well for skiers who like to mix carved turns with pivots, slashes, and the occasional switch landing. Western skiers who see real powder days will get the most out of the float, but the ski is composed enough to hold its own at East Coast resorts on firm mornings.

Highlights:

The headline of the M-Free 100 is the Hybrid Core 2.0, which Dynastar updated from the previous M-Free 99. Poplar wood layers run in three directions (longitudinal, transversal, and vertical) with PU wrapped around the outside, and the result is a ski that feels poppy underfoot but damp through chop. A new mount point that's nudged forward from the old 99 makes the ski feel more freestyle-friendly, and the slightly straighter tail with reduced rocker (compared to the outgoing 99) helps it drive through variable snow with more authority. The Adaptiv Sidecut blends the underfoot turn shape into the tip and tail geometry for fluid turn entry and exit, while a sandwich full sidewall keeps edge engagement crisp on hard snow. The Sintered HD base holds wax well and glides cleanly across mixed conditions. Despite no metal in the layup, the ski has surprising drive thanks to a thicker core profile than the previous-generation M-Free.

Things to consider:

The M-Free 100 is more demanding than the outgoing M-Free 99 it replaces. If you liked the older ski for its low-effort, ultra-poppy feel in the park, the new one is a more serious freeride tool and less of a jib stick. Skiers who want more dampness and on-trail authority should look at the M-Pro 100 TI, which uses the same shape but adds a titanal layer for charging.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis about true to length thanks to the moderate rocker profile and freeride-oriented mount point. Most skiers can stick with the size that matches their typical all-mountain ski, or bump up a length for added stability when chasing big lines.
