DESCRIPTION

The Ripstick 88 W is the more frontside-leaning side of the women's Ripstick lineup. It's built for skiers progressing from groomers into more varied terrain, with a width that handles mixed snow and the occasional softer-snow day while still feeling at home on hardpack.

Why we like it:

It's the kind of ski that makes you want to keep skiing. The Carbon Deck build gives it pop and energy without making it punishing, and the lighter swing weight means you're not getting tired halfway through the day. Carbon rods and edge bands keep the edge feel crisp on groomers.

Who it's for:

Intermediate and advanced women skiers who spend most of their time at the resort and want a confidence-inspiring ski that can also handle the occasional excursion off the marked runs.

Highlights:

Carbon Deck Technology is the construction story across the Ripstick line, and the 88 W gets a build tuned to feel approachable while still being capable. The Tubelite woodcore keeps the swing weight low, which is a huge factor in making the ski feel manageable for skiers who are still building strength and technique. Carbon rods add the structural backbone that gives the ski energy and rebound, and UD carbon edge bands sharpen up the edge response so the ski feels precise without ever feeling demanding. Flax fibre damps vibration naturally, smoothing out the ride without adding mass. The Amphibio profile is what makes this ski really easy to get along with: rocker on the outside edge means turns start easily, while camber on the inside edge means the ski holds a clean line once you commit. SST slanted sidewalls and a sintered base round out a package that's genuinely fun to ski.

Things to consider:

At 88 underfoot, soft snow performance is limited by the width, so if you're after better float you'll want one of the wider Ripsticks. The build is non-metal, which keeps things accessible but means very strong skiers may prefer something with more damping at high speeds.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis true to size. Improving skiers can size down for easier handling; stronger skiers can size up for more stability.
