2027 K2 Mindbender 111 Skis
SKU KS261789Storm days are what the Mindbender 111 was built for. As the widest ski in K2's reimagined 2027 Mindbender lineup, it brings a 111mm waist, generously rockered profile, and the new Dark Matter construction to anyone hunting deep snow and big terrain.
Why we like it:
On a wider ski, swing weight is everything, and Dark Matter Technology really shines here. By concentrating mass at specific points along the edges instead of spreading metal across the whole ski, K2 made the 111 feel quicker than its dimensions suggest. It pivots and slashes the way a narrower ski does, but still has the damping you'd expect from a freeride charger.
Who it's for:
Skiers who chase storm cycles, off-trail terrain, and high-speed open faces. Confident, advanced-to-expert riders who like to drive a wide ski hard will get the most out of this one.
Highlights:
On the Mindbender 111, K2 places the Dark Matter inserts close to the bindings, which gives the ski a more pivoty, maneuverable feel that pairs well with the wide platform. The Aspen Paulownia core combines two woods with complementary properties; resilient aspen for strength and lightweight paulownia for energy. Above and below the core sits the Titanal I-Beam, narrow strips of metal running tip-to-tail down the center of the ski rather than full sheets across the whole thing. That gives you the damping benefits of a metal ski without the swing weight penalty. A sintered base finishes things off for fast glide. Profile is heavily rockered with a high, long tip rise and a medium long tail rise, with camber hanging on through the middle. The relatively long turn radius rewards open, sweeping arcs more than tight slalom carves.
Things to consider:
Don't ask the 111 to be a precision tool on icy hardpack, because it isn't one. The wide waist and long radius also make tight tree skiing more of a workout than it would be on a narrower Mindbender. Anyone after a more do-everything daily driver should look at the 96 or 101.
Fit & sizing considerations:
True to length. Most skiers will pick their usual size; go up for maximum stability in soft snow, down for a slightly nimbler feel.
