DESCRIPTION

The 2027 Mindbender 90 gets a fresh name and topsheet, but remains otherwise unchanged, and continues to occupy its role as the lighter, simpler, no-metal option within the Mindbender lineup. With the same Aspen Microblock core, Spectral Braid, and easygoing personality as it's predecessor the 90C, skiers can feel confident going with this tried and true option.

Why we like it:

Spectral Braid is one of those quiet engineering wins that rarely gets the attention it deserves. By varying the angle of the fiber weave along the length of the ski, K2 separates torsional stiffness from longitudinal flex tuning, giving you precision without the locked-in feel of a full metal ski. On a lightweight chassis like the 90, that translates to a remarkably composed ride.

Who it's for:

Intermediate to advanced all-mountain skiers, lighter skiers, or anyone who finds full metal skis tiring after long days. A solid pick for skiers progressing through the Mindbender lineup; you can grow into the metal versions later if you want.

Highlights:

What makes this ski feel different from its metal siblings comes down to two things; no titanal, and an Aspen Microblock core instead of Aspen Paulownia. The microblock construction uses many small aspen blocks rather than a few wide stringers, which produces a more even flex pattern and a smoother ride. Spectral Braid wraps around the core with that variable-angle weave, taking the place of metal as the primary stiffness contributor. A sintered base keeps glide consistent. Geometry is similar to the 88 in tip and tail dimensions but stretches the waist out to 90mm for a touch more versatility. The All Terrain Rocker profile keeps things friendly to pivot, and a relatively short turn radius makes the ski feel quick and intuitive.

Things to consider:

Speed is not this ski's specialty. Without metal, it doesn't have the damping needed to stay calm in chop or at the top end of the speed range. Aggressive, charging skiers will be happier on the 88 or 96.

Fit & sizing considerations:

True to length. Lighter or less aggressive skiers can confidently size down.
