2027 Ride Psychocandy Snowboard
SKU RD261866The Psychocandy is Ride's other volume-shifted weapon, sitting alongside the Warpig but tuned for harder charging and more aggressive technique. The Ride Psychocandy uses the same short-fat shape language but builds it on a stiffer carbon-loaded chassis, so the board carves at speed with the kind of edge hold a directional freeride board would deliver while still keeping the maneuverability advantages of the volume-shifted format. Tapered Directional Zero Camber keeps the contact zone planted with elevated tips for clean release through soft snow, and the Carbon Array 5 build distributes power across a wider stance footprint than most boards in this category attempt.
Why we like it:
The Carbon Array 5 layout, with widespread carbon stringers reaching across the entire binding zone, gives the board a level of edge response unusual in the volume-shifted category. Carbon Slimewalls upgrade the standard sidewall material with carbon reinforcement, which kills chatter at speeds where most short-fat boards start to feel washy.
Who it's for:
Advanced and expert riders looking for the volume-shifted format on harder-charging terms than a typical Warpig buyer rides. Side-country tourers, big-mountain technicians, and experienced freeriders will find the Psychocandy delivers stable carving and confident landings without forcing them into a longer board than they want to ride. Riders new to the volume-shift concept should probably start with the Warpig and work up.
Highlights:
What separates the Psychocandy from the rest of Ride's short-fat range is the carbon investment in the build. Carbon Array 5 places carbon stringers in a fan pattern across the entire binding zone, so the board reads input from any stance width and translates it into edge response across both contact points. Carbon Slimewalls reinforce the sidewall material with carbon to take chatter out at speed, and a Carbon Infused Glass layup tunes the torsional response without adding swing weight. The profile is Tapered Directional Zero Camber, which sits the mid-section against the snow with rise built into both ends for catch-free pivots and float over soft snow. The Tapered Bi-Radial Sidecut uses two radii, a shorter one at the entry and a longer one at the exit, for the same edge-to-edge feel that defines the volume-shifted category. Inside, a Performance Light Core balances Aspen, Bamboo, and Paulownia for a snappy, responsive feel. Double Impact Plates protect the binding zone, Bio-Resin keeps the build sustainable, and a Sintered Stone Ground base finishes the package for speed and wax retention.
Things to consider:
The Psychocandy is the more demanding of the volume-shifted boards in the line. The flex is stiffer, the carbon makes the response feel sharper, and progressing intermediates should go to the Warpig instead. As with any volume-shifted board, the rider's standard board length is not the right starting point.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Drop a length compared to your normal board, by roughly five to eight centimeters, and the volume shift takes care of the rest. The wider waist also means most riders with bigger feet won't need a separate Wide variant.
